Did anyone's child have seriously massive poop explosions when teething? TMI for those that can't discuss poop openly.
I feel like i keep asking the same questions over and over, but this is DAY 9 of on and off loose, runny poo.
Tues/Wed/Thurs last week was definitely stomach virus. Vomiting accompanied the diarrhea.
Friday - no vomit, loose stool but not diarrhea
Saturday - normal stool, no vomit
Sunday - no vomit, no poop at all (normal for him - he's a 1/day or 1/every other day kinda kid)
Monday - no vomit, soft stool but not diarrhea
Tuesday - poop explosion - definitely diarrhea - all up his back, out the legs, etc.
Wednesday (this morning) - another diarrhea explosion. I heard it coming (early alarms? ), so I pulled off his PJs and onesie and sat him on a waterproof pad. luckily it was contained to the diaper this time.
The ped is not alarmed. DS is eating normally (roughly 30-34oz of formula per day, 3 meals of baby food), he's as happy as usual, no weakness or lethargy, and has no symptoms of illness. Nothing "off" with the exception of gnawing on everything. He's not even drooling excessively, but Ped said its likely teething.
He hasn't eaten anything different and we haven't changed his formula (similac sensitive). I haven't given him yogurt because I thought the dairy was irritating him, but i guess that's not the case. His BM are usually very firm. IDK what the heck is going on?!?!
Anyone BTDT? Just wondering how long I have to tote around a suitcase of clothing changes?
eta: This kid NEVER pooped out of a diaper until last week. Not even as a newborn. That's how out of character this is!!!

Landons had diarrhea since March of last year. He was tested for allergies, diseases, etc and they determined it was just 'toddlers diarrhea" and it will go away as he gets older. I hope this is not what Logan has because it sucks!! It started around 9/10 months.

Always keep extra clothes with me and change him at the first sign of poop! I never tried the vinyl things although I probably should have!

Em's poop definitely changes when she's teething - it's more liquid like - but not to the extremes you have been dealing with.
What you are dealing with sounds EXACTLY like what her poop is when she's sick. I know you have been told that he's not - but when Em had the 'dreaded stomach virus' and was on pedialyte - she would do EXACTLY what you are describing. I'd hear it - it would sound like a terrible fart and then just paint splattering... I've since called those poops, 'pedialyte poops' because i've never seen anything like it before or after.
have you tried giving him more binding foods - rice, etc??

So werid you are posting this bc ava is going thru same thing right now. She has been having 3-4 BMS a day since Sunday.
Sometimes loose somtimes jut a tiny hard ball (sorry for TMI)
But more frequent thats the thing.
She seems totally fine, happy, playing, giggling, talking like normal.
Except for the constant fingers in the mouth and chewing on anything that can go into her mouth.
SO I think teething.

does he eat bananas?
maybe some of those would bind him up a little.

I think Ang-rich and Lipglossjunky had this issue with there DS's. Don't ask how I remember this for some reason it sticks out.
You could try giving him soy formula since it is binding.

This sort of happened to us. I thought it was due to switching to milk so I messed around with that a bit. Put them on rice milk etc. Stilll loose poop. Are you sure its diarrhea? It is watery and gross, but is there a watery stain without solids outside the poopy area? This is how diarrhea was explained to me...if not watery its just loose poops and yes probably due to teething. Have you tried probiotics? You can get liquid or give him yogurt wit live cultures(I have read about 6 oz a day)

ooo no one ever explained that to me that way! i'll check next time if it fits those qualifications
We've never done probiotics - I'll look into it. He was on antibiotics for 48 hours at birth and I always wonder if that had an effect on his digestive system. He was a gassy newborn, a constipated infant, and now he's leaking

Dealing with this right now. His top gums are so swollen. His poop is so loose, he's had a low temp and he's very off. Plus, longer naps. I kept him home from daycare yesterday and today

Mia has always been a loose pooper and we are no stranger to diaper explosions. I have yet to see my daughter's poop in the solid form. It does however get on the watery side when teething.
She eats rice, bananas, takes probiotic and she is still a loose pooper . . . .

Wow this is Liam today too. He usually poops 1x/day in the morning. Yesterday he didn't and today he has gone 4 times. This last one was loose and DH said the others were too except for the morning one. I think it may be teething too. He is eating normally and playing and very happy otherwise.
