Did everyone attend a Lamaze class?
I need to sign up for childbirth prep class and my only options are 1) Lamaze 2) Lamaze refresher.
Is the Lamaze class worth taking? I thought it was about breathing so you don't push before it's time but I'm probably missing some pertinent info. I just figured I'll do whatever feels good for me but I'm naive when it comes to childbirth. Help me out!

Waste of time...the breathing exercises helped relax me in class but did nothing for me when I was feeling the labor pains...

I took "prepared childbirth" class. We learned some lamaze (which went out the window when I learned I was having a c-section in between the 2 classes).

I took lamaze and found it very interesting. They teach you all about the physical aspects of being pregnant and labor, how to recognize labor and what to do. They even taught us some basic baby care do's and don'ts. It's much more than just breathing lessons.

I took Bradley. I found it helpful & more importantly it got DH involved in the process. He wanted me to have the old fashioned birth where they call him at the bar with his friends there. Yeah right!

I took the class and the breathing really helped me and I was able to focus. I waited until the contractions were 4 minutes apart lasting 1 minute and I was 5-6 cm and I was able to get that far with the breething.

We found it to be a waste of a Saturday and money. It was nothing we didn't already know or could have learned via, book, dvd, internet, etc...

We felt it was a waste of money, but we did buy, and are in the process of watching, and lamaze DVD. It's actually very educational and $35 well spent.

I couldn't agree more - it was well worth the time IMO.

We did take Lamaze, mainly because the woman giving the class worked as a nurse in the hospital I was giving birth in. As my DH says, "waste of money".
