The winning post indicated that she did have a pet so that wasn't a problem. If I read the thread correctly, her post inspired the prize so if someone else had won, it may have been a different prize.

 Good question! Actually, the prize was specifically chosen because her winning post was in the pets forum.

It was buried somewhere in the middle of the 20 page thread where we all begged and pleaded with Ron to learn who the winner was.
I DID read the thread but I probably couldn't find it again if I tried.
