No, we were never told that Santa was anything other than just a nice thing to say/think about at Christmas... Obviously, the true meaning is much more religious..
I knew my gifts came from my parents and that they had to work hard to get them - and that I had to earn them. It was not traumatic at all when I grew up because I never had to learn that this thing I believed in was made up. I remember my friends were DEVASTATED to find out.
Same here.
I knew about Santa but never was told or thought he was real. Ever. I don't feel I missed out on anything.
Yup it was the same for me too. We never thought he was real we always new our gifts came from our parents and we never felt like missed out on anything either

absolutely! i guess i was about 8 when i woke up one Christmas Eve and saw my mom wrapping my gifts. thats when i realized he wasnt real.
