I haven't bought any yet. We have a bunch from the shower....but I'm waiting to see how big the baby is before I actually go crazy with them.

Re: did you buy diapers ahead of time?

I have 1 pack of newborns, 1 large box (216) and 90 pack of size 1, and 1 large box of size 2. I figure that will be enough until we find out how big she's going to be.

Re: did you buy diapers ahead of time?

I received a ton of diapers at my shower (my cousin filled up my toy chest with them) and then I also stocked up when BRU was having that big sale a few weeks ago. I buy random sizes (not really any newborn though - I do have some but not THAT much)

Just hold onto your receipts. My son is allergic to Huggies so if I'd had a lot of those I would have needed to exchange them.

Re: did you buy diapers ahead of time?

I have a box of newborn diapers and won't buy anymore until after my shower. Until I know the size of the baby, I don't want to waste the diapers.

Re: did you buy diapers ahead of time?

I was told NOT to buy too many of them.

I did not buy the NB because you could start directly with Pampers Swaddlers size 1 if baby is 8 Lbs.

Also, you don't know if they will "fit" the baby. Some people said they had to switch because of leakage. It just depends on your little baby's body.

So I got 1 box of 216 (or so) diapers size 1 from Pampers Swaddlers. I asked a few moms on the parenting board and Pampers Swaddlers was prefered at the beginning. Then some people switched to Luv.

If baby is smaller than 8 Lbs. I will just send DH get me a pack of NB diapers.

Sophie, you don't even have to bother sending DH out, in the hospital they put DS (6lbs, 11oz at birth) in size 1 swaddlers and he wore them for the first week he was home because of the packages that the hospital gave us.

I actually went back to newborn sizes b/c I had them and they can wear them up to 10lbs and DS isn't even close to that.

Re: did you buy diapers ahead of time?

I was going to say what Kate mentioned - Hospitals use size 1s, so if you want to buy, I would do 1s or 2s. I never used NB.

You also don't know which brand is going to work for you

Did the hospital gave you diapers to leave with?

My little boy is estimated to be average so I am thinking close to 7 Lbs 5 oz. That's why I got the size 1.

We have two packages of newborn and the rest are 1, 2 and a box of cruisers 3. Based on what they are estimating for weight, I think my not-so-little one will go straight to 1 but w'll try the opened newborns first.

I took advantage of the sales recently but concentrated on 1 and 2.

Yep they did. Two packs of 20 size one swaddlers. DS is probably about 7lbs 5 oz now and is wearing Target newborn diapers still.

Re: did you buy diapers ahead of time?

With my son I didn't and glad I didn't. He used exactly 1 pack and 1 diaper of newborn swaddlers. He wasn't in size 1 for very long either - maybe 1-2 months and I loved Baby Dry. I know by the time I got to size 3 - Baby Dry stopped working for me and I had to try another type. I guess my point is not all diapers work for kids and some kids outgrow them way to fast.

I figure I'd get a case of Size 1 and a pack or two of newborn and take it from there. DH or I can always run out and get more as we need it.

Re: did you buy diapers ahead of time?

I just bought one pack of newborns the other night. I don't plan on getting any more till afterward. I'm sure I can send out DH if we are in need of more after the nugget is here.

Target had a deal a few weeks ago when they were on sale and then you got a $5 gift card so we picked up one pack of newborn (since they go up to 10 lbs) and two packs of size 1.

We will just wait until she is born to see what she needs from there. We figure that is enough to last us a short time to figure out if we like them and what size will work best.

I bought several packs ahead of time, but then I got a lot for my shower (a diaper cake, in my diaper bag, etc.)
