Did you continue to work out early in your pregnancy?
I am 6 weeks 4 days pregnant and want to go to the gym but am so nervous. I keep putting it off saying I will start to go again after our 8 week sono but not being active is killing me. I know these early stages are so important and don't want to over due it. Is anyone early on working out now?

I did, and mostly did just cardio. I know I could have continued with weights if I avoided the ab exercises, but somehow that made me more nervous. Then I got to a point where I was so exhausted that I couldn't face the gym after work every night. I've definitely cut down, but I try to get in 45 mins of cardio a few days a week.

Yeah usually I would run but I am going to try to avoid that for a little bit. I just want to go and walk and maybe do some lite circuit machines. I don't think walking for 45 minutes can do much harm right?

I do light weights still and I walk and do the eliptical... thats about it.. I was still running, taking kickboxing and spinning classes for the first 6 weeks... I didnt even know I was preggo!! My doctor said the same as everyone else.. keep doing what you are doing, and slow down if you feel like you have to.. and recently.. my body has been telling me to slow down!

Re: Did you continue to work out early in your pregnancy?
I did till about 8 or 9 weeks when I had a little scare... DH and I did the deed one night and the next morning I went to my cardio kickboxing class. I went to pee after class and there was blood in my urine. I was so scared. It just happened b/c of the two combined, but since then I cut out the kickboxing class. When I have the energy I go on the treadmill about 3 or 4 times a week and do my 5 pound weights. I also got a prego yoga DVD I just started.

As long as you were active before, you can still continue to work out. I've been working out ever since I found out. I am 34 wks and still do 30 mins on the elliptical, circuit training and pre natal yoga. I'm starting to get a bit tired though, but try to fit in at least something each day.
It's great for delivery..and post baby weight loss!

Re: Did you continue to work out early in your pregnancy?
I am 26 weeks and still go to the gym 5 times a week. I lift weights three times a week and do cardio twice a week. This is definitely toning it down for me, before becoming pregnant I was much more fit, but it makes me feel so much better to work out.

Re: Did you continue to work out early in your pregnancy?
I was working out with a trainer but when I got pregnant with twins I completely stopped. I didn't want to risk anything even though my trainer told me I could continue. I may see if I can do a little more in my 2nd trimester. We'll see.

I'm 6 weeks too and I'm still going to the gym. I take spin classes, walk on the treadmill or do the eliptical for cardio and I take yoga or strength classes. I wear a heartrate monitor and just make sure not to get too high. I'm also doing less weight when lifting.

Re: Did you continue to work out early in your pregnancy?
I'm with you. We're only 6 1/2 weeks and we tried for a year so there's a part of me that doesn't want to take any chances just yet. I've heard from everyone and the doctor that it's okay, but I'm still leary. I may wait till next sono and then go from there. We're having twins and feel like I have to be extra cautious!

You're still spinning? I was doing it before the wedding and wondered if it was ok to still do but I was too nervous.

When I went for my appointment, they said it is fine as long as I kept my heart rate down. I think its good because its a low impact workout.
