Did you do genetic testing before ttc?
My dh and I both did it when we got engaged. We're ashkenazi Jewish and there's a panel that tests for 96 carrier genes. Scary stuff.
I forgot we even did it until this week when a friends friends son, age 4, was diagnosed with usher syndrome type 1F. Turns out both parents were carriers and didn't know it.
Of course I'm totally neurotic and a worry wart, but then I remembered both dh and I had been screened for genetic carriers.

Did you do genetic testing before ttc?
Yes, I was and so was my husband. He is Greek and I am Jewish and individually we were potential carriers for various things so I wanted us both tested.

Yes, I was tested. If I had tested positive for anything then DH would have been tested.

Did you do genetic testing before ttc?
I got tested but was clueless as to the risks of any genetic disorders or my chances of being a carrier. I did it just at the suggestion of my then OB. I came back positive as a carrier for Cystic fibrosis so they ordered a script for my husband and he got blood work done..as we awaited he results, I found out I was pregnant. Then we got the call that he too is a carrier. The chances of that are pretty phenomenal.
Neither of us know anyone with Cf and it was a complete shock. It was a huge blow to us and our families and made what was a happy time, an incredibly scary one. Every pregnancy I have a 25% chance of having a child with CF. I urge everyone to do the testing if they can.

Yes because my parents are both carriers of the tay Sachs gene so there is a 75% chance I was a carrier, which it turns out I am. My DH thankfully was not.
With this pregnancy they did a repeat genetic test as routine even though I had provided all my prior records.

Yes I was tested as standard procedure. I then found out I am a carrier for CF. DH got tested and thankfully he is not a carrrier.

Yes. DH and I are both Jewish. He was sweet and said since I'm having the baby he'll get tested and if he's positive then I would go, but he was negative.

we didn't do it initially, but I ended up at an RE after a few complications and they did the genetic testing there. I got pregnant that same month
ETA: I just did it. If I was a carrier for anything, then they would have had Dh do it.

I am a carrier for SMA which was tested when I was doing IVF. DH got tested as well after that.
