Did you ever hear of "no sperm"? sorry computer was wacky!

Unfortunatley, DH and I were not too keen on reading directions when we dropped the SA off. We had abstained from BD for 13 days even though the directions said to limit it to 2-5. In our defense, we had a lot thrown at us at once as I am sure you can sympathize with.

The lady at the lab made us sign a form stating that we understand if the results come back with bad news that it could be because we did not follow directions. We figure we'd drop it off anyway since we made the drive and the effort. We took another sample cup with us on the way out.

Dr called with our SA results today. She said and I quote "You are not getting pregnant cause your husband has no sperm". I explained what happened to her and she said that even if we abstained for 13 days there should at least be SOME sperm in there.

We decided that if (and I hope I don't of course) I get my AF again, we will do the SA the right way and if it comes back bad again then we will go from there with urology testing for DH. But again, the dr insisted there should at least be something there regardless of days abstained...

So even though I am upset, numb, scared....I am holding out that there is at least some hope since we did not do the test at the right time. I have to hold onto this or I will lose it completely.

What do you think? Any experiences?

The condition you are describing is azoospermia. You DH will need to see a urologist for further testing. GL and hopefully the repeat SA will have better results.

First of all I think the way the dr broke the news to you was terrible!! But yes if the second SA is the same PP is exactly right.

Thank you ladies! I am still very upset but I have to put this feeling aside now as we won't be able to do the SA again until the second week in April or so.

Well... when my parents were trying to get pregnant, the doctors told them that my dad had no sperm at all & they'd never have another child... and I was conceived totally naturally not long after (they couldn't believe it, my mom says it was a miracle)... I wanted to share that with you so you'd know there's definitely hope. Hang in there & good luck!

I would do the second SA as soon as you can, this way you will no what you are dealing with and not have to drive yourself crazy waiting. Waiting 13 days can definately change the results so what the report says is not accurate. There are a lot of things they can do for azoospermia so don't lose hope. I'm hoping you get better news next timeChat Icon

My DH did an SA once and it came back with barely any sperm - he only had 3!!!

We re-tested and he had 2 million. It's weird....definitely re-test.

First off the the doctor should of never told you like that, he should of brought you both into the office and explained it too you and your husband. My husband has Azoospermia (No Sperm). We found out last summer and it was the most devastating news I ever had to deal with. After going for his first semen analysis, the doctor told us to come into the office and he told us to see a male fertility urologist. So we did and they did tons of blood work on my husband and winded up doing TESE, and they found nothing. They truly don't know why either, it might be because he had double hernias as a baby and had to have surgery for them. I hope you go for another option with another doctor and get better results then us. We used Dr. Mellinger in Garden City he was great. Good Luck and I truly hope your husband gets some good results.
