Did you get conflicting opinions on u/s regarding gender?
My sister had an u/s at 15 weeks and the sonographer told her and her dh it was a boy. Baby was spread eagle and both her and her DH saw what they thought was a penis (they have 2 sons and have seen gender u/s before). Yesterday she had her 21 week sono and another tech said 100% its a girl. She showed them the 3 lines. My sister is scared to believe one way or the other. Has anyone had anything similar happen? What was the final opinion on gender?

Re: Did you get conflicting opinions on u/s regarding gender?
I would say the 21 week sono is correct. At 15 weeks, the girl parts could still resemble a male, so I would tend to believe the 21 week one. That's why a true gender determination is best made at the level 2.
Did she have both sonos in the same place? This did happen to another poster but the hospital who did her level 2 never would officially say if it was a boy or a girl.
So she went to a 3D place and they said girl. Went back to her drs office for a 32 week sono I think, and it was confirmed it was a boy. When she brought the info to her dr, the dr said that the 3D place should have never told her it was a girl based on the pics they got.
She is the only person I have heard of htis happening, but as I said, the hospital/drs office never would commit to girl or boy.

Well the male and female genitals always start out the same way. What becomes the penis in a male becomes the clitoris in a female. So early on they have the same anatomy and since 15 weeks is a little early, I tend to believe the 21 week sono, esp if theyr saw the 3 lines. But I still would be unsure, I would want another confirmation.

Re: Did you get conflicting opinions on u/s regarding gender?
I had my ultrascreen at 12 weeks and the sono tech would NOT guess but the doctor, not my normal one said it looked like its 75% a boy...he pointed to something, I didn't see what he was pointing to....At my 20 week Level II they said 100% girl, we had them check three times to make sure... Early on the genitalia can look the same....there is a site online, I'll try to find it for you...
