Ours will be roughly the same. 1st bday party will be slightly smaller than the christening party was. Both had about 40 ppl coming, but we invited a few more to the christening party than the bday party.

The christening was bigger. We kept the guest list for her 1st birthday a bit smaller.

Christening. It was more important to us and typically the event we would invite extended family/friends to.

pretty much the same number of guests, but the guest list changed somewhat...
I had more extended family invited to the christening, and more friends invited to the birthday.

Our 1st bday was bigger, more because I had more time to plan, and get myself together. The christening was so close after he was born I was still adjusting to having a newborn in the house let alone hosting a big party. In hindsight I would prob do the christening bigger, just b/c now I think I set the "precedent" for all the birthdays following...

We had a bris, same kind of thing as a christening but jewish.
My parents paid for it and it was huge and fancy, but its their first grandchild, and a long time coming as family wouldsay. A lot of ppl came, more than came to my wedding.
The birthday party will be in a party place, and we are really keeping it simple.

we are having a bigger first birthday
while the christening is a very big deal to me it is also a religious celebration that i feel is to be shared with only the very important people in their lives so it was close family and maybe 4 friends we consider family
the 1st birthday will be a bigger shindig but only about 70 people this will be family, friends a few important coworkers

Baptism was bigger...at a hall. 1st bday was a house party. I baptized both DC's at 2 months old, so it was a way for the families to meet them, so we had a big party. We kept the first bday to close fam and friends.

DS' baby blessing was bigger than his first b'day. Both in our yard but for his blessing, we had a ceremony in the yard, 3-4 times as many guests, rented tent, tables, chairs, lots and lots of food, bar/cigar tent. His first birthday was more of a simple fun party.

Christening was much larger as we included friends on that list...but we had that out at a place that could accommodate 100 people easy.
1st Birthday was backyard BBQ party friends only because we were fearful of rain and not being able to keep everyone dry! And it POORED and thank goodness we had the tent but we kept it at like 45 people.

With first DD we had big Christening smaller 1st party for DD two we had a big christening and i think we might do a family trip to Disney instead of a 1st birthday party

We "tried" to cut back for teh 1st birthday...we were going to end up with 50 people but it was 2 days after the blizzard and many people didn't come - I had 35 in total and more like 80 at the Christening

we chose to do a very small christening and a big 1st bday and we are very happy that we did! DS was able to enjoy himslef and run around which wouldn't have been the case if we had a big christening party because he was only 5 months old.

Our Christenings are immediate family only which is about 60ppl
Our First Birthday parties are bigger. About 100 adults and 50 kids.

Probably around the same.
DH's 40th b-day is the same time as the boys' 1st b-day so we may invite more of his friends.
Both parties @ our house....BBQ style, outside!
