I don't think there is anything wrong with having something to keep the kids busy esp when you are having LOTS of children at the Christening.

It is a family event kids included and not a funeral..... I think its a great idea to have something kid friendly so you don't have kids bored and causing chaos.

I would opt for some crafts if you want to entertain the kids. I also think a clown is for birthday parties.

My mother shook a rattle in Jake's face incessantly while he screamed his head off Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I could send you my mother, she does parties, but I don't think that's what you're looking for Chat Icon

Um...I like the craft idea... maybe a face painter even... the people that do the characters sometimes do face painting also.

Arts and crafts is a better idea. But a clown at a religious event? Or a magician. That's for birthdays. You can have a table set up for kids to do arts and crafts.

What happens after the clown leaves anyways? are the kids going to go sit down at their seats because they've just been entertained by a clown. They will still run around and cause chaos. It's what kids do...LOL

Maybe if the party were at your home where it's more casual but not if you are at a restaurant. A birthday party would be the exception.
