Did you watch 60 Minutes with Barack and Michelle Obama
How anyone could think this guy is not sincere is beyond me. He and his wife are just so down to earth and remind me of my husband and I. They are not putting on this big proper show.
It impressed me when they were talking about he lived in a crappy apartment to keep costs down when he was in DC. I, for one, am so happy he got elected and I can't wait to see what happens!

I saw this too and think he and his wife are such a class act.
If they are putting up an act, he deserves an Oscar...
I'm really glad we will have a President in office who came from such humble means to succeed the way he did...

Re: Did you watch 60 Minutes with Barack and Michelle Obama
I really liked it when he said, "Are you comparing my mother in law to a dog? How is your relationship with your mother in law?"
I know they must get all the questions beforehand but I liked the interview. It wasn't information-rich, since we had heard everything before. But it's so refreshing to see someone who speaks well, even in a (seemingly) unplanned interview.
Also, he was smart to reiterate that there is a long road ahead for turning the economy around, bringing troops home from Iraq. Then again, I don't know how many ignorant people who think he's going to fix the economy with a snap of a finger watch 60 minutes.

I caught part of it - only because we DVR'd Amazing Race and it was late starting.
And said to DH, I love how he is soooo down to earth.

See that was the best part - cause Michele turned around and said to him - oh yeah - since when did you find it soothing

I agree, they seem like a great couple. If any of it is an act, that would be news to me. It's funny he got the rep as the latte swilling arugula gnawing aristocrat and yet drove around in a crappy car.
I dated someone once with a car like that. He however, was a loser, no hope there.

Re: Did you watch 60 Minutes with Barack and Michelle Obama
I watched most of it, loved it!! it was great when they were asking about things he'd miss doing and he said taking a walk (assumably he meant by himself) and then after a little banter between Obama & Michelle....she asked him if he wanted to take a walk "right now" they just seem like such good natured, normal people, I can't wait to watch them over the next 4 years!

This is a big deal to me. For the last several years I have cringed at the lack of vocabulary and articulation. This is wonderful and what people, particularly children, need, back to the day when to be a leader you had to be intelligent and your intelligence was conveyed throught the way you spoke.
What I get from them is a sense of character. They have worked hard and in combination with education--not money, nor who you know--they have succeeded. What a great couple and I wish them and all of us the best and they go through the next 4 years.

I was laughing so hard at that part! Loved every minute of it! I am looking forward to watching their two little girls grow up. They seem like a "true" american family.

We Tivo'd it,but I couldn't wait to watch it when I got home tonight so I watched it while I was working.
Loved the interview. They seem like just another couple. Their story is truly inspiring. They came from humble beginnings, worked hard and seem to have a great family life.

Re: Did you watch 60 Minutes with Barack and Michelle Obama
The only thing I was a little sad about was that Michelle seems to think she's got her husband back now, after him being "largely gone" for 2 years.
They kept saying how they were looking forward to being under the same roof (that's a BIG roof!), how the kids would see their father at meals and so much more now... I kind of feel like that's a pipe dream. Maybe I'm off base (watching too many West Wing episodes probably) but I always had this idea that family always suffered under the pressures of the Presidency.
