Different genders sharing a room? (copied from preg forum)
What is your opinion on this. I would LOVE a boy, but I am hoping for a girl b/c we only have a 2 bedroom house. We are looking into co-ops, b/c the rooms are bigger, but it would still only be 2 rooms. If we have a boy, he will have to share a room with my daughter.
She is only 10 months. I am thinking it would be okay for a couple od years at least. Anyone every have to do this?

We lucked out getting our 3-bedroom at the last minute, but before it had been in the picture, we were planning on a 2-bedroom with the kids sharing one room. I think when they're so young, it doesn't matter at all for the first few years.

I think it is okay for the first few years. Once they are older -- like preschool age -- I would rather have my kids in a seperate room if I had a boy and a girl.
However we live in a 2 -bedroom and even though we're careful I'm paranoid of getting pregnant again and on the few times were I had myself convinced I was I was already planning out how I'd make up the room for 2 kids and possibly a boy and a girl. I painted it yellow so it could be neutral for both --- and I would definately do it if we had to.

My sister had to do this with her son and daughter when they were younger. It was fine. When they got older though, they were in separate rooms.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. We'll probably be in the same situation. Although we have a 3br house, the 3rd bedroom is on the 1st fl. I'm not comfortable putting Nate downstairs or leaving both of them upstairs by themselves. So baby #2 will be in our room for 6months or so and then we'll move him/her into Nate's room. It will be another 2yrs before we move.

I don't think here is anything at all wrong with it untill they are much older. My boss lived in a 2 bedroom with her almost 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter. They shared a room. They just moved into a bigger apartment and only now the kids have their own rooms.
