Dining Room Color Help

Ok... so here is the deal...

I am totally a beige/cream and white molding person with dark hard wood floors.

Most of the house is basically in those tones. Our kitchen has white-washed cabinets with dark green corian countertops- sounds weird i know- it's how we bought it and it grew on me.. kinda started a dark green wine theme around it....

anyway- to the point. my dining room opens up from a very large doorway through the kitchen and the room off the dining room we just painted olive. (i hope you are following me....)

I really wanted to try a burgendy for the dining room but I am afraid it won't match, flowing from the kitchen bc of the large open doorway.

Does anyone have pics of burgendy diningrooms with white or cream on 1/2 of it seperated by a chair rail.... did you paint the top or the bottom burgendy?

and- are chair rails hard to put up?

I really wanted to try to add color but am too afraid it won't look right coming from the kitchen.

I don't have any pictures but generally if you add a color to a room on a floor with a large open floorplan then you should try to add that color somewhere in the other room. So if you can add a little burgandy accents in your kitchen area it should flow nicely.

Re: Dining Room Color Help

Danielle and I are doing that right now to our dining room.

We are doing BEHR Velvety Merlot on Top and Bone White on the bottom(Tan), and then we have PURE White Chair rail, box moulding, and crown moulding. We also have dark cherry floors.

This is Velvety Merlot

If you look at this page, you will see bone white on the right side....that is what we have on the bottom of the wall
