Dinner Time - the fun never stops. (long, long, long)
Horrible day at work, followed by an excellent dinner.
DH called the kids to up to dinner by saying "Who wants Princess & Pirate Chicken?" For those of you that don't know what that is it's chicken- the white part goes to the princess because princesses like white things (along with the obvious pink that princesses have). Pirate chicken is the drumsticks because everyone knows that pirates do not use forks to eat.
While they were eating, Joseph asks "Is today No Manners Day?" This was something I declared last year to give them a break from having to use their manners every day. I realized my mistake after I made them eat grill cheese sandwiches without their hands- which was very difficult to get the cheese out of Maddie's little nostrils. Regardless, we declared it No Manners Day.
Maddie kept saying her pleases, thank yous & excuse mes that she finally demanded that No Manners Day was for pirates. Princesses used their manners all of the time.
The dinner table conversation turned to Halloween. Joseph has finally decided that he will be a vampire. Decided as in he'll be a vampire until he sees a cooler costume. Previously he was going to be a Gladiator, a Knight & a Ghoul. Now he's seen glow-in-the-dark teeth, so the choice is clear.
Maddie already has her Cinderella costume. At dinner Joseph was still trying to convince her to be a Zombie Princess.
Then DH said "I think you should be a Zombie Princess!"
She angrily said, "I have my Cinderella dress. It is a BEAUTIFUL dress! I am BEAUTIFUL & I NEED TO WEAR A BEAUTIFUL DRESS!"
I said "You could still wear the beautiful dress & we could paint your face white with scars & wrinkles & things. You could as Cinderella in 100 years - or at 39 years old."
She gasped & said "WHAT! An OLD CINDERELLA! I am NOT going to have scars & wrinkles on my face EVER. I will not be an OLD Cinderella."
DH came up with the solution. "You should be ZombieRella!" Needless to say, Maddie was utterly horrified but DH's new nickname for her is now ZombieRella.
Then they started coming up with things for us to be. DH & I could be:
1 - the handsome prince & the ugly stepsister.
2 - the King & the maid, so the King could leave his wine glasses out.
3 - a ghoul & a Mummy (wrap up one of Maddie's babies in mummy fashion & borrow a Baby Bjorn from someone).
DH's other suggestions were I could wear my wedding dress, get a wand & go as a fairy godmother. Do I want to wear something that I won't wear again, but costs thousands of dollars??
Dinner ended with dessert. Of course, Joseph said "Please" so he didn't get it until he demanded it & stomped his feet. After all it is No Manners Day.

I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for making me smile. It must be a great feeling to know you can slip your wedding dress on if you wanted to. Mine wouldn't fit even if I rolled around in butter.

It's been 8 years. I should say it *FINALLY* fits.

Can you please explain "no manners day" to DH. I just devoured a piece, ok a SLAB of apple crumb cake and was pretty "manner-less." He must not have gotten the memo of today's significance!

First, I have TWO Baby Bjorns you can borrow
Second, wear your wedding dress... this is coming from someone who went as the Runaway Bride and wore her dress
