Dinner time...
Ryan hates it!
Alot has to do with him being tired.... If he sleepy he wont eat!
Ive tried feeding him more like 430- so he's not too sleepy for dinner... and it works- but at that time he's really not hungry for dinner...
Ive tried giving him a later nap.... but that just makes our bedtime routine a disaster....
Please oh please tell me how I can get this kid to eat dinner!
Also- Since he's been sick the past few days... he hasnt really been eating his solids (at any time of day) However hasnt been "making up for it" by drinking more formula....is that ok?

Re: Dinner time...
We go through this and if she doesn't want to eat I don't make her. I figure if she's hungry enough she'll eat. I just give her a bottle before bed and she'll usually drink the whole thing where if she eats dinner she usually doesn't finish it. Solids are still not their main source of nutrition so I wouldn't worry as long as he's taking bottles he's fine. Miranda goes some days and eats no solids.

And how many oz of formula is she taking in? Do you notice she drinks more on days she dosent eat as much solids...???
Pre solids Ryan was taking close to 40oz/ day... then it slowly dropped down to 24-27oz/ day... Im just worried that since he is skipping a meal here and there, and isnt drinking more to make up for it, that he isnt getting enough...ya know?

Re: Dinner time...
18-20oz. She doesn't usually make up for it if she misses a meal. She may just do 22oz but that's not a guarantee. Honestly IMO if he's hungry he's going to let you know. My daughter is not a big eater but when she wants to eat you know it. Ryan is a healthy weight and has never had trouble gaining, I'm sure he's fine. For me its really important to not coax Miranda to eat. I know she's young but I want her to be able to judge when she's hungry and wants to eat or not. Now if she doesn't eat breakfast I will offer her an extra bottle but I won't try to make her drink it. If she wants it she will drink it no problem. I used to worry a lot about this but I was making myself crazy always tallying how many ounces she was or wasn't drinking and freaking if she didn't gain weight. I've given up. She is a slow slow gainer but healthy and eats when she wants to eat. Nothing I can do about.

So true- My ped tells me the same thing...
I get so freaked out because he is below the 50th percentile... however is gaining, and following the same path since h e was younger- and thats all that matter....
I offer him so many different things (a fruit, a veg, a meat, yogurt, a cookie, fresh fruit in the net thing)....and sometimes he justs has no interest!

50th...I wish. Miranda was in the 25th, dropped to the 10th and who knows what she is now. I'm done worrying. She eats and gains at her own pace. She's growing, healthy and meeting her milestones, that's all that matters. They ped. likes to do periodic weight checks on her to make sure she's gaining but that's all.

Don't feel bad about what percentile they are in. Jack fell off the chart at 15 months, since he was about 20 pounds...not even on the charts. But as you said, he is growing and developing and getting taller. He is just going to be a skinny kid for now. I too gave up worrying. If he only wants to eat one chicken nugget for dinner, nothing I can do about. I just make sure he drinks enough milk. At 18 months he is 21 pounds and 34 inches!
