Re: Diocese of Brooklyn
Is their screening/interview process usually extremely slow? I had a great screening interview on the 14th (both principals said they would hire me if they had positions & that I should have no trouble finding a job in the Diocese). I e-mailed last weekend asking when I would hear back about whether or not I passed through the screening process based on the screening interview, and they said something would be mailed this week. Yet nothing came through regular mail or e-mail and I don't know if it would be pushy to follow up again. I do know that the person who has been handling this whole process since May is no longer & my e-mail last weekend was answered by someone different, so I don't know if that's holding things up or not. Thanks :)

Re: Diocese of Brooklyn
keep in mind there are lots of schools closing and schools merging so there aren't really that many positions available

Re: Diocese of Brooklyn
Hmm.. I'm actually not sure I am much help, I didn't interview through the diocese, I had sent resumes directly to the principals. I know when I got hired, I was contacted by the head of the department and they had a three step interview: 1) Interview with 3/4 Science teachers 2) Demo Lesson 3) Interview with the principal
so I think this might be a little bit out of order and not much help for you! But I think now that it is August you will be hearing much quicker..
I know when I was applying, since I had sent my resume to so many schools, in September, I heard from about 3 school who started the year short handed.
Good luck!!

I got a few resumes out today & am delivering 2 personally tomorrow since one of the schools is closed today. I made a list of the schools in the DIocese & am going to submit my resumes thatw ay too.

Re: Diocese of Brooklyn
I see you got your answer; but as soon as I was interviewed I started calling all the schools to see IF they had jobs available (although principals probably won't be back for 2 weeks now) & then in RVC I just sent my resume to EVERY single school. I got many callbacks & even a few after school started.
Definitely be aggressive with it though; you have nothing to lose. Just call main office & say; I wanted to know if you had any positions open; I'm on the diocese list.

Re: Diocese of Brooklyn
I dropped my resume off at a school with 2 openings today, and the secretary said she believes they were just filled this morning but I saw her hand deliver my resume to the principal. I also spent 3 hours writing cover letters to each school in Queens & am finishing those up now to mail out tomorrow.
I'd love to send a few out to RVC but don't know if I can be considered if I'm not on their list. (Which in itself is a bizarre story)

Re: Diocese of Brooklyn
I'm sure you could be hired in RVC. I worked there for a year and I just sent all my resumes to the principals, I never went through the diocese. I actually tried to go through the diocese & they said they weren't interviewing. I got calls from 3 different principals after they got my resume. Good Luck!

Re: Diocese of Brooklyn
They contacted me because they had my resume on file from 2 years ago & asked if I still wanted an application. I replied yes, but the application never came. Each time I called to check on it I was told they weren't up to my half of the alphabet yet. Finally in May after calling for months I was told they were finished sending them out and I should have been "more proactive in seeking out an application".
I've contemplated sending my resumes to the schools directly, but I don't want to be considered for a job only to have them realize I"m not on the Diocese list and throw my resume out.
