I once told a beachbody "coach" (and i use coach lightly as what qualifies you to be a "coach"? just because you signed up for a pyramid scheme- yeah ok)
I hate people calling themselves experts, and business owners, and freakin' CEO's.
How about #Mompreneur ?
I legit gag when I see that shit.
bahahahaha, totally agree. A true mompreneur is someone who legit starts their own business - not just riding the coat tails of someone elses idea...selling someone elses stuff...
Its the same thing as selling Makeup/Skincare at a Dept store, or selling diet shakes at GNC - you are just doing it ONLINE!!
I'm sorry - i dont mean to insult anyone who chooses to do direct sales...but its just so out of control. I hate it all.

Re: Direct Sales: Yay or Nay?
I don't mind it if they are not pushing it on me.
Like if a friend lets me know she is selling something and if I know anyone looking to buy, to please give them her info - no problem. I only buy what I want, when I want. A good example is an acquaintance started selling R+F. She let me know in a FB message. About a year later, I wanted to try a product of theirs, I sent her a message and bought it through her. Now if she had been pushing me, and bombarding me with messages, I would have been too turned off to even give her the business.
I feel that if I'm going to buy a product ANYWAY, I may as well buy it through a friend who's trying to make some extra money.
I also unfiollow anyone who is in direct sales, because my FB news feed gets way too overcrowded with their posts.

Direct Sales: Yay or Nay?
Hate them all. It's all low quality crap at a premium. That said, if a GOOD friend is having a party I usually go and buy something but not always. I just bring a bottle of wine, some snacks, and go to socialize.

Direct Sales: Yay or Nay?
I hate it. I hate people who I haven't spoken to in forever suddenly message me with something like- your kids are sooo cute! Hope you're doing well! And sales pitch.... Drives. Me. Insane. And I block people whose statuses are only about the thing they sell or asking people to join their team. I do like LLR's clothes so I actively seek out consultants but anything else, if I want something you sell, I'll let you know.
Now that I stay home, I won't lie that it's tempting to start selling but I would be terrible bc I refuse to market. The only one I'd consider is LLR but the starting money is $$$$$.

I hate them. Don't get me started on all my bad experiences with them. The most recent though - random guy in Lindenhurst decides to message me on FB to tell me he can help me lose weight (I have never expressed any interest in weight loss products on FB). He targeted me strictly because I became a member of a new moms group. I gave him a piece of my mind about contacting random women and recommending they lose weight. I am 5'6 and weigh 150... hardly a reason for this guy to try fat shaming me. Apparently he sells isagenix.

I would have reported that DB to Facebook. That is horeshit. Facebook should not allow their site to become a breeding ground for selling garbage. It's going to ruin their site

Direct Sales: Yay or Nay?
I don;t really care one way or another. I have NEVER felt pressured into goign to a party or buying anything and IMO if you are doing direct sales you can't be offended because someone said no to you....it's part of life.
Hey if people can make money doing it more power to them.

Re: Direct Sales: Yay or Nay?
It's a way for real companies to tap into the networks of people who don't necessarily have business skills or a work ethics, but are "popular" and "influential." And because of all the middlemen needed to accomplish the "tapping," the products are automatically grossly overpriced.
All the titles, rhetoric, and hype is just designed to attract and motivate the influencers--it is empty.
It strains friendships, whether or not the reps realize it or not.

My biggest issue is that I find the stuff is grossly overpriced and then I feel like I'm being a bad friend if I don't buy something to "support" my friend.
Thankfully, I haven't been invited to many of those parties but I'm sure that has to do with the fact that I'm a FTWM.
This. I wouldn't mind it so much if it wasn't so overpriced. And I always feel guilty if I don't attend one of my friend's parties. I have finally come to master ignoring the requests for hosting a party.
I think it's the guilt factor that sets in for me that makes me resent the direct marketing.

I really should report him. I couldn't even believe someone would have the balls to do that, let alone think it was a great marketing strategy. I was so pissed.

Direct Sales: Yay or Nay?
Nay!
I don't mind if someone I know asks about a product and someone posts about it to answer but when they start messaging EVERYONE on FB or EVERYONE in a group I'm in or add me to an invite/group numerous times. I have a friend who goes from direct sales to direct sales. You would think that she would eventually realize it doesn't work.

Direct Sales: Yay or Nay?
None of my friends invite me to parties, I would probably decline if so. I just try to ignore the stuff on facebook. I do actually like a lot of pampered chef products so I have an acquaintance on FB that I buy through.

Dislike. I will decline all Invites unless it's something I know I would want.
I love pampered chef and would go to a party.
But if I won't use it I would never go. I feel obligated to buy and most of that stuff (for ME) is crap.

I hate it. If I want or need something, I'll go to the store and buy it, or buy it on Amazon. I can't stand the model where I have to go to a distributor to get something. I think I should be able to buy everything I want in a store. And I find the stuff is WAY overpriced and usually a huge rip off. And sometimes a huge scam. Like those wraps. Yeah ok, I'm going to wrap my belly in saran wrap and look like I worked out for a year- overnight! Yeah ok.
And I can't stand feeling obligated to buy stuff or pressured.
So for me, it's a BIG no
Exactly. I never attend or buy.

I actually had someone approach me in person and ask me to join her "team" so I could leave my job. I thought that was pretty comical.

Direct Sales: Yay or Nay?
I have never been invited to one of these parties but my friends and I aren't really the "mompreneur" demographic.
The only direct sales company I ever liked was Fibi and Clo (I saw them at one of those Shecky's things). They made sparkly sandals that I loved but I think they went out of business? If they every start up again and anyone on here wants to sell them I'll give you a lot of business. I freaking love those things and mine are falling apart.

Re: Direct Sales: Yay or Nay?
In general I hate to be bothered by these pyramid schemes. I did recently place an order when my friend hosted an online Pampered Chef "party". A couple of days after my order, whoever conned my friend into it, emailed me asking to host an online party on Facebook. This was my exact response... No thank you, I don't have a Facebook nor will I be getting one. I'm not friendly enough for any hosting of any kind. Clearly she has not asked again. I find these online only events weird especially if you've never seen the products in person.

Direct Sales: Yay or Nay?
I am an independent consultant for a network marketing Arbonne So I have opinions on it. We have skincare, makeup and nutritional product. I have been for over 10 years however I don't work the business to my full potential. I signed up to get a discount on the products that I truly love. I actually love going to these parties for the social aspect lol. I will usually commit to buying one thing I usually check out the website ahead of time with an idea in mind of what to buy if theres nothing I love I don't buy. Last "party" I attended was a chloe and isabel necklace which I love I placed a joint order with 2 friends at the party to get the "deal" and save on shipping. Its just one of those things that the market is so inundated with new direct sales companies I feel that there is a new one every other month. And they all clam that they are the "fastest growing" lol how can all of them be fastest growing. And when the sales pitch is too pushy its a real turnoff.

I HATE it. I agree its all over prices and most of it is stuff I would never buy. I hate feelings pressured to go to these parties and than buy something I'll likely never use or paid way to much for. I also cannot stand the constant fb post by some. I have a friend who sell "it works" I had to block because she was non stop all day with posting "it works".

I'm not a fan. I go to the parties to help whoever is hosting. I make it very clear to the rep, I will buy but will not sell. I find most of them pushy. These direct sales are a fleeting thought. Every month there is a new craze of sales. It's all BS imho.

Direct Sales: Yay or Nay?
I'm so-so. I don't normally go unless I want something and I don't buy online unless I want or need something. That being said I do like certain companies! A friend of mine sells 31 and has never pushed her business on me. I call her when I need things and it works out. Last month I bought 4 of the big totes, 2 smaller ones and a lunch box. The totes were gifts for the teachers and I filled them with the kids back to school lists and some things form the wish lists. They have their names on them and love them!

I truly loathe them for pretty much all the reasons mentioned.
One thing I really hate is the reason why they are overpriced - to pay all the "middlemen" in between the consumer and the company.
When people who sell this stuff hire people to be on their "team", they are essentially adding another layer of people who need a commission.
Sometimes prices are high because demand is high. I understand and accept why I will pay a premium to travel on school breaks. They can charge it because there are a limited number of seats on planes and rooms in hotels, and because people are simply willing to pay. I get it.
I get that I will pay more for a pedicure at a legit salon that doesn't imprison and impoverish their employees, or for a cup of coffee brewed from beans picked by fairly paid adults and not children.
But to pay $40 for a simple piece of costume jewelry or $60 for a small decorative bowl so an extra few moms can join the "team" and stay home with their kids? No, sorry.
And - taking off my economics hat for a second - some of these people are SO pushy. A fledgling friendship I had with someone never took off because she just wouldn't stop with the push for me to join her "team."
Do you have an Econ degree? B/c this is my exact reasoning as well -

Re: Direct Sales: Yay or Nay?
Drives me nuts. I have this Facebook "friend" from high school who CONSTANTLY adds me to her sales groups for "the pink stuff" and who messages me non stop. I ended up having to defriend her.
I have another Facebook friend from high school who posts non-freaking-stop about her wraps... yeah ok... I will wrap myself up and look like I went to the gym 24/7.
hate it.
