Directions to Yankee Stadium
What is the best way to get to the Yankee Stadium from Long Island? We live in Nassau County on the South Shore. Thanks for your help.

Re: Directions to Yankee Stadium
I think mapquest would be your best bet.

Re: Directions to Yankee Stadium
Yes, mapquest would be a good choice. But if we dont drive can someone tell me about getting there by public transportation. I guess I should have been more specific.
Is it easy getting there by public transportation and what would I do?? Thanks...I am a real novice. Never been to the Yankee Stadium.

Re: Directions to Yankee Stadium
Whitestone or Throggs Neck Bridge to the Bruckner Expressway. Take that all the way to Yankee Stadium. Or you can take the bridges to the Cross Bronx Expressway (which I wouldn't) to the 87 exit towards Yankee Stadium.
Public Transportation may be best though. The 4 & D train goes there as well.

Re: Directions to Yankee Stadium
take the SS to the meadowbrook to the Northern state that flows into the grand central to the cross island to the throggs neck bridge to the cross bronx (stay to the left after the toll) and take 87 south towards yankee stadium. I forget what exit but it's very apparent when you get close. It's not far once you have gotten onto 87. The traffic will be huge though.
I opt for the train most times.

Thanks for your help.
Please bear with all my questions. If you opt to take the train ... do you take the LIRR to? and then??

Re: Directions to Yankee Stadium
The Cross Bronx is scary, avoid it if you can.
LIRR to Flushing-Main Street to the 7 Express to Grand Central to the 4 to Yankke Stadium. That would take 2 hours...at least.
LIRR to Penn ACE to Columbus Circle B or D (I forget) to Yankee Stadium
That will be a PITA too
eta: The Cross Bronx is scary because people drive like psychopaths. Stop and go...stop for 20 mins...go for 2 mins...get cut off about 5 times...stop some more...
That is a typical ride on the Cross Bronx

You take the LIRR to Penn Station.
Then, I usually do the following. I take the #1 to 42nd Street, then take the Shuttle (Gray S) to Grand Central. From there I catch a #4 all the way up to Yankee Stadium - which has its own exit.
Here is the map: MTA Map Link
From their website - : SUBWAY The Yankee Stadium Subway stop is located right outside the Stadium at the corner of 161st St. and River Ave. The Stadium is conveniently reached by several subway lines and a trip from midtown Manhattan takes less than 25 minutes. The #4 train, as well as the B (weekdays only) and D trains make stops at 161st St./Yankee Stadium.

Re: Directions to Yankee Stadium
The cross bronx tends to be a bit better on weekends.
When I take the train I take the D express. LIRR to Penn, get out of Penn station walk to 34th and 6th and grab the D all the way there. River St is the stop.

throgs neck to the cross bronx to exit 1C, then bear left following the signs to Queens and take the first exit (6) and at the bottom of that exit ramp is the CLOSEST parking lot to the stadium and its $14 to park.

This is how we go too, but ever since it took us over an hour to get OUT of the $14 parking lot, we valet park in the $25 lot.

DH would never leave early. He considers it sacrilege. I, OTOH, know when it's time to throw in the towel (I'm a Knicks fan, too ).

Re: Directions to Yankee Stadium
you can take the LILRR to Penn. Then take the #2 train to 149th Grand Concourse, go upstairs and transfer to the 4 train, take it one stop to Yankee Stadium.
