Disney experts - President's week?

Has anyone ever been to WDW during President's week? I want to know how busy it is.

I really want to go back to Disney (I am turning into one of those people - 7 years straight). And we have 2 invitations to go. We can go in Feb. for President's week with DH's cousin and his fiance'. The room would be free as her parent's have a timeshare there and it is a suite. I think it is at one of the beach resorts. Or we can go in March with DH's dad and his youngest sister. We would have to pay for a hotel, I would be fine with the value resorts on-site (PopCentury or AllStars), because how much time do you spend there. But I would also stay at the Caribbean Beach or Coronado Springs, which are a bit more, but not outrageous.

The airfare is more expensive President's week, but since the room is free it is financially less expensive then in March. Both trips would be 5 nights. I am just concerned it is really crowded in Feb. Any ideas?

we went there for a day during presidents week- it was PACKED! i think we got on 3 rides (and they were the chessey ones... no big name rides Chat Icon ).

if you have the opportunity to go during another time, i would definitly choose the alternative. (i think the 'Unofficial Guide to Disney' also ranks it as one of the busiest times of the year to go, but i could be mistaken Chat Icon )

I don't think most states have February break. I know we don't in VA, and my friend from Pennsylvania never had it. I think it's a Northeast thing - so I don't think it would be too terribly crowded.

Check the unofficial guide they let you know what the crowds are like for the year. I would think depending on when you want to go March would be the better option. President's week can be really busy and Easter is in April - so I would say you would probably be better in the beginning of March rather than President's week.

But I would check out as I said the unofficial guide and check out over at disboards

we were only there for a day (b/c it was a stop on our cruise), so i guess thats not a true depiction of the whole week.

i just checked the book, and it rates the beginning half of the week as a 7 out of 10 (10 being Jam packed to the fullest capacity),,, and the rest of the week is rated as a 4 out of 10. (maybe b/c alot of people have off for President's Day, so they take a long weekend-type trip??)

If you're planning on doing all of the parks though, then just save MK and EP for the later part of the week, and you should be fine Chat Icon

Thanks that is a good tip! I really have to decide. Maybe we could do a water park or AK (DH has never been there) or MGM, the first couple of days.

I've never been, but MIL has 2 timeshares there and that's always a peak week for trades.

Re: Disney experts - President's week?

I am Disney Certified.

Disney theme parks are amoung the top vacation destinations in the world. If you are flexable with your dates you might consider traveling in early spring or fall when the weather is mild and the attendance is not as high.

or

you might want to consider staying at a DW resort hotel for easy access to the theme parks in early morning or late afternoon when they are not as busy. this also gives you a perfect opportunity for a mid day swim at your resort or an afternoon nap.

or

Check into Disney's fastpass service which is easy to use and cuts the wait time on most popular rides. And, it is included in your theme park admission.

Re: Disney experts - President's week?

Extremely Packed!
One of the most busiest times.. wait time for rides is hours long.
If its the ONLY time to go, then I would go but if there is any other time you could go.. I would go a less busy time
