Disney experts..Princess Dinner for 3 yr old Boy? thoughts.

I've booked many character dining (Pooh and friends, Agent Oso, etc)......but.......should I book the Princess dinner @ the Castle?

I kind of always wanted to go....Chat Icon , but I realize it's kind of pricey and do you think my son would enjoy it? or should I just pass?

Any insight is appreciated!

We never did the castle one, but did Cinderella and friends at the Grand Floridian and my boys were 3 at the time. We went for my niece and nephew who were into princesses. All of the kids liked it. At 4 we did the same thing and even the princess at Norway they all liked. At 6 they would not be happy about it, we just went a few weeks ago and all they wanted to do was eat at Chef Mickey's.

We just went to Disney with my DD. Unless you booked dinner at the Castle 6+ months ago, you will not be able to get a reservation. I tried 3 months before our trip and could not get any meal at the castle.

However, we did do the Princess Breakfast at Epcot which my DD loved. There were plenty of little boys there too. With that said, I think I would pass on it as it sounds like you have a bunch of other character meals booked already. We did two meals and DD was very overwhelmed and over stimulated!

IMO, the castle dinner is not what it's all cracked up to be. Yes, the atmosphere is great but the food selections are just ok. We have eaten there for both bfast and dinner. Unless you have a big princess fan, it is not worth the money. I would recommend 1900 Park Fare dinner buffet or the Askehaus (Norway) dinner over dinner at the castle. At both you still see a variety of princesses, plus you get more food options. The norway dinner is a combo of buffet and sit down entree.

Thank you!

I forgot that I won't even GET a reservation this close to trip time, so I figure it is a non-issue at this point.

One day I shall dine with the princesses. Chat Icon

Last time we were in Disney, before we had kids, we did the dinner at Cinderella castle and it was AWESOME!!! The food was great and there were so many characters that came and walked through. I think ANY kid, boy or girl, would love it. It was such a cool experience being up in the castle, even my DH loved it!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

This is not necessarily true. Yes they book very early and yes they are very hard to get, but they are frequently cancellations. My suggestions - call right around when final payment is due - people have to cancel their trip for various reasons and so reservations do open up. Also call a few days before and go to the castle every day you are there IF it is important to you. I personally haven't taken the girls I didn't want to use 2 TS credits and wanted to wait until they were older to enjoy it. We have done Akershus instead and really enjoyed it.

I have had several friends get in with last minute cancellations. But you have to be willing to take anything B,L Dinner anytime to get it. It is also easier to get depending on the time you are down there peak times are much harder than non holiday/spring break peak times.

BTW a friend of mine has one girl and two boys and says her sons enjoy the castle.

I just got back from Disney. We had a 3 yo , and 2 1 year olds, all boys!

As much as my sister and I were dying to go, we decided the boys probably would not be interested. There are so many little girls dressed up as princesses they were so into the whole theme. Then there were our boys lol it was depressing for me ( and my sister) in a way , bc we wanted to go so badly.

I would without a doubt take a boy. I think the boys get swords too. I've had luck with reservations close to my travel date in the past. I would search online daily if you really want to do it.

The one at Royal Hall may be open. That's the one we're doing.
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall to be exact (Epcot)

We did this one in December and really enjoyed it. Its 1 TS credit if you are on the dining plan instead of 2 at the castle, and your price includes a picture with a princess at teh door (ours was belle who my DS had a big crush on at the time)
I have heard some people complain about the food but I Thought it was good and so did the other people in our party (10 total)
Each princess came to teh table, did pics and autographs with the kids. and they did a kid parade around the restaurant as well.

I also though Cape May breakfast at Beach Club resort was really good - non princess related.

PS DS was just under 3 when we went in Dec. But spending alot of time with his cousins he did like the princes lunch.
