Disney in Jan/ Feb weather
Unfortunately our early dec vacation had to be changed due to dh work. while the reason is great bc he's will be entering a promotional class, it stinks bc we really really wanted to go to disney in dec - and we would have celebrated our 10 yr wedding anniversary there too.
our points are going to expire the end of May and we didn't want to go during a peak season (presidents week) and we really wanted to stay at boardwalk villas this time around (stayed at blt - loved it but wanted to try bwv) Jan feb is the vacancy they have:
we have never been there during that time (we've only been there april, june july aug and sept - summer months never again)
not sure how the weather will be - we booked spirit of aloha for dinner at the poly and was told it may be cancelled bc it can get cold. LIKE HOW COLD!?
are we going to have to bring winter stuff down there? i am kinda disappointed bc there won't be any xmas decorations and we prob won't be able to go back to the resort and relax in the pool like we did in sept.
the lady at disney told me its cold to fla residents who are used to hot weather but it may be nice for us..
has anyone ever been there during that time? any input will be appreciated
thanks

Re: Disney in late Jan early Feb weather
we went this past january from Jan 3 to the 10 about. The coldest it got at night, i forgot my jacket and bought a fleece coat. We were watching fireworks at Epcot on the water. I wore jeans and velour sets with a t shirt without a jacket during the day and was fine.
my husband and i didn't go in the pools, but my brother and his wife and their kids did. They heat up the pools. It was warm during the day. I remember wearing capris during the day also. Looking back at the pictures, during the day everyone wore shorts during the day.

Re: Disney in Jan/ Feb weather
I've been in January when it's been REALLY cold for FL - 30 degrees during the day. Two days later it was 60. It's unpredictable. I was there at the beginning of last February and the day we arrived we wore capris and t-shirts and flip flops and were HOT. Four days later (the day before we left) we were wearing sweat shirts, jeans, socks, sneakers and bought a fleece.
You probably won't be wearing shorts but during the days you will be ok with a t-shirt and capris. Dress in layers and you'll be fine.
We are going again this January. It's an amazing time of year to go - crowds are at their lowest.

we went during the february break week 3 years ago. we did not find it that crowded and had a great time! weather was warm, but not hot. not hot enough for the pool, though.

Re: Disney in Jan/ Feb weather
When I was younger, we use to always go the week starting with MLK day in January. I never remember it being freezing but never above 75.

Re: Disney in Jan/ Feb weather
We visit frequently in Jan/Feb both for training with Disney and for a family trip. We like the low crowd levels - if you avoid the holidays and WDW marathon weekend - and don't mind cooler temps.
Think layers and bring a heavier jacket, scarves, and gloves. You don't want to pay theme park prices if you end up needing them!
Normally we're in capris/pants with short sleeves and a jacket or sweatshirt in the morning and evening and lose the sweatshirt midday.
The pools are heated to 80º+ so it's using the water slide and the walk between the pool and your room where you'll feel the chill.

Re: Disney in Jan/ Feb weather
It was chilly when we went at that time, but we rented a house with a wonderful heated pool and it was great. Honestly a night we layered with sweatshirts and jackets and were still freezing sometimes.

Re: Disney in Jan/ Feb weather
We've been both in Jan and Feb. The days can be just beautiful but dont expect to be in shorts all day if you do get that. Last Feb we went for 10 days and spent time at the parks & visiting family. We had 1 day where we kept our winter jackets on and then another day where we spent almost the entire day in tshirts and capris. it's a hit or miss truthfully but the level of the crowds is what attracts us to going that time of year. (that and its when DH gets his vacation) Hardly ever a wait on lines for rides so we get to go on so much and numerous times. And barely a wait to see characters as well. We even went into our heated pool with the kids one day and had a blast while the snow was piling up here. We bring changes of clothes to the parks for the kids at night and pack hats/gloves just in case. You could end up using them at night.

Re: Disney in Jan/ Feb weather
We went at the end of February a couple of years back.
We had a few cool but, nice days, one freezing day (high of 40 and rainy) and one warm day (mid 70s) so it's hard to predict.
The parks weren't too crowded though which was really nice.
