Disney Junior on TV - Question

Will Disney Jr. be a separate channel from Disney, like Nick Jr. is different from Nickelodeon?

Or are they just changing the name of the morning segment from Clubhouse Disney to Disney Jr?

Anyone know?

Re: Disney Junior on TV - Question

I think what is happening is that they will be a set schedule now in the mornings - BUT in 2012 they are taking over the soap channel and it will be a 24 hour channel with no commercials.

This is what I found about it:
Disney Channel will launch Disney Junior in February 2011 as a new multiplatform brand devoted to children ages 2-7 and their families. Disney Junior will invite parents and grandparents to join their children in the Disney experience of magical, musical and heartfelt stories and characters, both classic and new! The Disney Junior schedule will include a new series, Jake and the Never Land Pirates and current hits, including Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Special Agent Oso, Imagination Movers and Jungle Junction, as well as an array of Disney’s classic and contemporary movies. In 2012 Disney Junior will debut as a 24-hour basic cable and satellite channel in the U.S.

I cannot wait..I cannot believe it has taken them this long! I am taking it as a whole new channel and I hope I am right! I love Disney playhouse cartoons (and so do my kiddies 3 & 2) It stinks they are only on in the morning!

Every time my DD sees the commercial for it! She asks when Disney Jr is coming on! lol!

I'm very excited for it as well - but in other ways very sad. One of DD's favorite shows is My friends Tigger and Pooh - and the Little Einsteins and they have phased out or gotten rid of them. They aren't in love with Handy Manny and rarely interested in Agent OSO. I haven't seen a preview for the new show - but I wish they would bring back a winnie the pooh show.

It's funny you should mention Winnie the Pooh, because I was just thinking about the charaters from that show. DH has Pooh and Tigger stuffed animals, but he has no idea who they are. Chat Icon

Thanks for the update on the programming change!
