Disney park tickets.....Is there any benefit really to getting them in advance?
This is probably my 6th or 7th time or so going to Disney and I always buy the tickets in advance, but should I even bother Aside from not having to wait in line to buy park tickets there is no monetary perk is there?
Also, is there any legit sites etc where there ARE discount tickets? I always see those little booths around Orlando adverstising discounts, I'm guessing those are timeshare type things?
TIA !

If you participate in the Disney YES program, you can get heavily discounted tickets! It's a youth education program held in the parks. Basically you sign up for a class with your child that is about 3 hours long, and you are able to purchase discounted tickets for your entire party. It's a Disney World program, not a third party thing, and it's actually pretty interesting. We did a science one a couple of years ago and saved about $600 on our tickets.
Aside from that, most places don't discount much. If you sign up for the mousesavers.com newsletter, there is usually a link to undercovertourist.com that will save you a few bucks.
Here is a link to the YES program. You want individual enrollment, not the homeschool or groups.

I edited the URL....copy and paste the one above...the other was groups I think
It looks like the schedule only goes up to February 15th right now. If you go on www.disboards.com and click on the budget board, there is a thread devoted to the YES program. Someone might have some information as to when they will extend the schedule.

NP! We did the Synergy in Science class at Epcot, and it was a bit boring, but I was thinking of all the $$$ we saved during it lol. I've heard that most of the other classes are really good. I think we just had a boring instructor!

If you go to Mousesavers.com before the 15th and sign up for their newsletter there are codes for special discounts for tickets from undercover tourist.
The only benefit to buying early is that you don't have to worry about price increase (usually happens around August - but could happen anytime).

I guess not but let me say I had to buy a ticket last time we went. We actually just bumped our plan to the hopper and it was PAINFUL. just waiting and waiting and waiting. OMG
There was my 3yr old waiting to go in and I kept saying "just a little longer"
No thanks.

Are you staying off site or on site? Depending on how long you are going - one thing to consider is getting on AP (annual pass). There are some articles that you can save if one member of the party has an AP pass - you get discounts on hotels, etc.

I like that the expense is out of the way before we even get there.
I also like to plan two trips 51 weeks apart from each other so I can use the annual pass 2x which is a big savings.

Re: Disney park tickets.....Is there any benefit really to getting them in advance?
DH in the past had bought a package of tickets - if you buy 10 tickets per person (no expiration) - they get cheaper adn cheaper per ticket. Was an expense up front but there was a big savings and they never expire even if prices go up. If you plan to go a lot, it is worth it. I mean we bought 10 tickets for 3 people and that was pretty much used up in 2 trips. This year he got discounted trips though his company.
