Disney question - Electric Parade and Fireworks viewing

We are going to Disney soon and I was hoping that DS would be able to see the electric parade and the fireworks show.

I thought I saw somewhere that you can reserve prime viewing spots. What is this??? Do I need to reserve spots or will we be able to see it the parade and fireworks from a "regular" spot?

I haven't really planned out our Disney (MK) day and now i'm getting scared. The sole purpose of our trip isn't Disney per say as we vacation about an hour south of there but we plan to spend 1 day at Disney. DS is 3 and I just want him to have fun.

In my experience, you will be able to see both the parade and fireworks best from most places in the path of the mainstreet.

The reserved spots are usually $$$ and not always worth it, from what I have heard.

For parades, get there an hour early and sit on the curb. It's a good time to have your DH run and grab food (like Casey's hot dogs or a bakery item) and snack while waiting. You will have a great spot!

The fireworks are only certain nights I think.......and start at 9 or 9:30 pm. Your little one may need a nap beforehand. My oldest has slept thru them until this past year.

Have fun!

Re: Disney question - Electric Parade and Fireworks viewing

We had a park hopper, and stayed at the contemporary, so one night for the electrical parade, we got there at 620, got a spot right on main street right by the entrance, watched the parade (which my boys LOVED) and booked out of there as soon as it was over, no crowds! perfect!

We also saw it one night while eating ice cream, but the view from main street was much better!

Before the fireworks, they do an awesome show on the castle, you really need to be face on to the castle to enjoy it! its amazing!!!

Just head to the front of Cinderellas castle a few minutes before the fireworks start, and hang out there until the parade is over. We did it last week and had great views for everything, we never waited too long before the shows because we only had one day in the MK and I didn't want to waste any time,
