Disney World ( New Years and January)
Another Disney thread (sorry but nothing came up in the search). Has anyone on here spent New Years Eve or been there January 1-3rd??? I went the second week in January last year and there were no crowds but unsure about the first few days of the month. Do most schools start back again on the 2nd? Thank you and sorry but can't find a thread on this

Re: Disney World ( New Years and January)
That time is crazy. NYE and I believe new years day the park closes to capacity. I don't think crowds leave until around the 5th or whatever that weekend is of the marathon. We went the 5th-12th many years ago. The day of the marathon and the next day we wall to wall people, but then it was completely empty with major ride 10-15 min waits. I would not choose to go then unless that was the only time you could do so. You mentioned New Years Day - would you arrive that day? If so you might not get into the park you want. Also will you be onsite or off site. When they close they do so usually 1st to off site guests, then to those onsite with no ADRs then to those onsite with ADRs. I have friends who went around Christmas until a few days into the new year and vowed not to go then again. The decorations are gorgeous though.

Re: Disney World ( New Years and January)
Thank you! Unfortunately the first week of January is the only week mother can go. I have gone to DisneyLand the day after Christmas ( never again !!) fast pass finished at 1pm and park was at full capacity by 330pm I did go in January one year and as you said no more than 10 minute waits and perfect weather I guess it was later in January , could not remember. Also was unsure of when most schools returned after break Thank you ! Probably give this one a miss!

Re: Disney World ( New Years and January)
I got there jan 2 in 2011, late. We went to the parks on jan 3 and it was crowded and the taxi driver said it was quiet compared to the day before. the 4, 5, and 6 were better and then when the marathon came in it was getting crowded.

Disney World ( New Years and January)
Prices start to drop on the 2nd but the parks will be quite busy that week since many people will keep their kids out of school for the partial week (like us) to visit the parks post-NYE mayhem.

Re: Disney World ( New Years and January)
We were there on New Years Eve one year and it was AWFUL. Wall to wall people, you couldn't even move within the parks. Ride lines were insane. Food lines were insane. It really wasn't a fun experience at all.
I don't like being in WDW on any of the actual holidays, it's just crazy. Right before or right after a holiday is always so much better.

Re: Disney World ( New Years and January)
The days after New Years should be ok. If I were you, I would arrive Jan 2.
