DIY Christmas Photos
DD is due in the next two weeks so it will be up to me to do a nice Christmas photo. I was thinking of just taking my own pic with the digital camera and getting the photo Christmas cards from Snapfish.
Am I crazy or is this the best way to go on a short time frame?
Also, if anyone did their own pics, any ideas for a cute background and/or setup?

Re: DIY Christmas Photos
Everyone pretty much knows I use the car seat for pictures.
Use a towel for what ever background color you want or go with a white towel & white tulle. Put it over your car seat.
Insert baby.
Zoom in as much as possible on the baby's face. Take a few straight on, a few from the side.
If she's sleeping..."Peace on Earth"
If she's crying..."No more Silent Nights..."

Re: DIY Christmas Photos
Katie - you can do them on Kodak for pretty cheap and I always have them shipped to CVS. It's only $1.50 and they usually come in a 2-3 days.
I would put a pretty blanket behind her - with the "My First Christmas" outfit we bought her

Re: DIY Christmas Photos
Yes DIY is really your only choice, you definately dont want to take your 2 week old baby out to to those germy picture places! You can find some really cute holiday birth announcements online-here are some sites that specialize:
http://www.baby-announcements.com/holiday_birth_announcements_page1.html
http://www.impressinprint.com/
http://www.announcingit.com/main/Product.asp?catid=11&id=54
Im not sure if youre able to attach a photo to the sites above, but you can go onto a site like purplestork.com and email them your pictures and then personalize it yourself.
(you can at least get some cute ideas for wording the announcements on the above sites.) I think my announcements said something like " santa brought us our christmas gift early this year!" (i gave birth 2 yrs ago on dec 16th)
also costco.com is a great option-download your photo on their site, pick a holiday border-they have pages to choose from- and theyre ready the next day...and they come out great-and sooo cheap-50 cards for $15!
good luck!!!!

Re: DIY Christmas Photos
I think as a newborn, you could do her in a cute diaper cover and maybe a santa hat?
When we did DD baptism invite pics, I piled a bunch of pillows up and covered them in a white sheet and took pics of her with nothing on. The pillows were arranged so she kind of layed in a crevice as if she were laying in clouds.
You could cover the car seat with a white sheet (or red or green).
You could get a small box, wrap it in gift wrap and wrap it around the carseat-maybe? Or put a pillow(s) in the box and try to get her kind of sitting up so you can take the pic from the side and she is in the box.
Or get a BIG red bow and stick it in her belly or head, or on her bottom as she sleeps (Melbernai did this with her DD--it was a professional pic with her DH hands wearing santa sleeves/gloves and the sleeping baby curled up in the hands).
You could do just your or DH plain hands with the sleeping baby, bottom up and the bow on her bottom

Re: DIY Christmas Photos
I put a blanket in the infant seat and put her in front of the tree last year, she was 3 months old.

Re: DIY Christmas Photos
I am going to but only because we did some professional ones this weekend and they didn't come out great.
Right after Liam was born, I got a great pic of him in his bassinet at the hospital, he was swaddled and laying on his back but his face was turned toward the side, it's a close up and he's sleeping. You can always do something like that and have Snapfish put a holiday border around the picture.
Another idea is if you swaddled your DC in a green or red colored blanket, that would be cute. Or just in his/her diaper on a bed with a Santa hat on him/her coming out of a stocking (laying down of course).

Actually that's a great idea! I may borrow your idea and do that in front of a decorated tree in Macy's this weekend.
