Yes, it sucks. There are all different types of dizziness though. You usually get dizziness/vertigo with/after an ear infection. Or after a respiratory infection.

You can take dramamine otc, or get a rx for meclazine. If it continues you should go to the ent and they do testing for it, to see the cause and whatever.

Re: Dizziness-Vertigo?

DH gets this every now and again for no reason.
It just strikes.
He says it feels like his eyes are going nuts- like they can't focus right and then he gets spins.
If it gets bad he ends up vomitting etc.
It's really really bad.
He said it worsens when he lies down.

What he does now is when he feels it coming on he takes a dramamine or bonine and that usually knocks it out before it gets bad.

The Dr told him that anything with meclazine hydrocholride (sp?) (ie, dramamine, bonine, generic motion sickness tabs) are pretty much the same as prescription stuff.

Re: Dizziness-Vertigo?

been dealing with it most of my life. i can get it randomly, or from drinking things with nutrasweet. too much stress will aggravate it. or if i cam getting sick. anasthesia triggers it pretty badly. oh and pregnancy had me on disability for 8.5 month because of severe vertigo.

can last hours to weeks depending on why. and its usually the precursor to a migraine as well.

i've had MRI's, ENT testing. All of it came back normal. i was diagnosed with benign postural vertigo. meaning, i get dizzy.

i've learned to live with it. and as long as its mild, i can function normally, even if i feel lousy.

i also have benign postural veritgo. mine lately comes on if i sleep too much. i take dramamine and once that takes effect i am usually better the next day. i think mine came from water in my ears after a vacation 10 years ago. I usually get dizzy in may/june.

Re: Dizziness-Vertigo?

I get it randomly. I've seen the ENT and haven't found a cause. I take Dramamine when I feel it, but I found something online about recentering your balance by pressing on your head and applying pressure back in various spots and it totally worked for me!
