DlCK MOVE. Arcade Fire in Costume Drama Over Tour Dress Code

Request for fans to wear "formal attire or costumes" at 2014 arena shows has led to debate

Ticketmaster customers are greeted with the note: 'Please wear formal attire or costume.'

Pretentious and pompous if you ask me! It's not like people are going to be denied entry to the venues (and their general fanbase are the kinds of people who always dress in some kind of off-the-wall hipster trash garb anyway) but I have to say...

As I wrote, no, you won't be denied entry to the venues. It's just a d ick move in my opinion. They're just a rock band...and having gone to probably more than 600 concerts in my day, the last thing I'd want to do is show up in some kind of formal attire because it's a strong suggestion from the band.

Unless...there exists a giant middle finger I could dress up in and they could see it from the stage. Chat Icon

It is a dumb request. I don't really understand why they want people in costumes?

I can't wait to go to this concert and see the randoms that actually do dress up.

They just posted this on FB

To everyone really upset about us asking people to dress up at our shows… please relax. It's super not mandatory. It just makes for a more fun carnival when we are all in it together. So far these have been the best shows we have ever played.
See you soon.
Love,
Arcade Fire

The formal wear idea is stupid. Your clothes would get wrecked!

But I think a costume concert would be cool. Then again, I'll dress up for anything. Chat Icon

Personally I would of dressed up in a formal gown and make a fun night of it (if i had one on hand.) When i was super gothic I would spend money on outfits to be dressed up all the time at clubs/shows. I mean for a show you would get SUPER dressed up like entire victorian ball gown or renaissance wear.

I get it - don't think they're being asses about it just saying hey let's make this into a fun interactive experience.

Yeah I agree, if you can wear what you want anyway what's the difference? It isn't like they'll turn you away at the door. Not hurting anyone.

requesting this actually takes the coolness away from people doing it on their own...

They were kinda half joking. i actually think it would be a really cool idea/thing to do. I have seen them live and it was probably one of the best concerts I have been to.

I don't think they mean to be a$$holes, truly.
I saw them at the SNL dress rehearsal & they seemed super cool.
They had this little after party thing & they had people putting on these weird big heads, dressing up, dancing around & stuff... I think it's just to add to the fun & make it like one big interactive party!
