DMV question re getting address changed and new license in the mail
Anyone recently change their mailing address on their license through the mail?
If so did you pay for a new license to be mailed to you, showing the new address and if you did, what do they do about the picture? Do they use the old picture on your old license?

Re: DMV question re getting address changed and new license in the mail
The DMV will use your old picture. You don't need to pay to have new documents, you can just change your address with the DMV and then write your new address on the back of your license.
We did that with DH because his license was expiring within 9 months and it seemed silly to pay to have new docs sent and then pay again when he had to renew.
For mine, we paid the $$ to have the new docs sent.

So for you, you got a new license mailed and they used your old picture? . I know they said you can write it in but we want a new one.

This is the FORM from the NYS DMV website. It states that there is a $17.50 fee to replace your license.

Re: DMV question re getting address changed and new license in the mail
I just mailed these forms in today! Our licenses don't expire until 2012, so we paid the $17.50 to get new ones.
Don't forget to update your address on your registration as well.

Re: DMV question re getting address changed and new license in the mail
I moved about three months ago- I called the DMV and had them change the address in the system (which was free). They told me that it would be $17.50 plus a $5.00 fee if I ordered a new license over the phone that I was better off saving the $5.00 and then waiting 48 hours and ordering it online.. both DH and I did it this way and saved $10.00 ($5.00 each).
We both kept our old pictures..if you want a new picture you'd have to do everything at a local DMV for the $17.50 cost.
HTH!

Re: DMV question re getting address changed and new license in the mail
I changed my address over the phone and didn't bother getting a new one mailed to me.
It's just updated on the back.

Yup - new license with the old picture but the same expiration date (2013) and new address.
