Do all of your wood pieces in one room match? Thoughts on an entertainment center.

We got an electric fireplace in medium oak for our family room.

Origianally we were going to mount our TV, but have decided on an entertainment center instead. (I cannot believe the cost to have it mounted).

The entertainment center I like is a darker shade of oak than the fireplace. There is a center that matches exactly but I am not thrilled with it.

The room is large - 16.5' x 18.5'. The two pieces wouldn't be on the same wall.

What would you go for - matching wood shades or the peice I like?

Do all of your wood pieces match?

I don't think they have to match, but for me I like when they compliment each other. If it's in the same wood shade family, I see nothing wrong with that at all. Go for the one you like. Chat Icon

I'm a big fan of having wood in the same room being VERY close in color. Even if it's a big room, I am just not a fan of things when they do not blend. It's really a personal preference though!
