Do any of you (or your DH's) travel for business?
How do you cope with missing your little ones? What about your DH's? I'm talking for 1 or 2 weeks at a time.
I have an amazing oppotunity to take my consulting business to the next level, but it would require a lot of travel for the next year. Probably a week or two at a time, then I would be at home for a week or two at a time to spend time with DD.
Currently, DH stays home with DD during the day, and I'm working at a client that is 10 minutes away...I go to the office from 8-5 and I come home and feed DD and put her to bed everynight. DH says to take the opportunity, and that DD will always know who mommy is, even if I'm not home every night. This could mean some serious $$$$$ for us.
I'm so torn. I've worked hard to get where I am in my career...but I also feel like I will miss out on so many things with DD.
What do you who travel (or your DH's that travel) do when you are away for long periods of time.

DH travels for work and I used to. I haven't travelled since having DS, and hopefully I won't have to. The longest DH would ever be gone for would be Monday - Friday.
DH misses Ryan while he is away, but it makes the time they spend together that much more special. He works late, too, so he spends time with Ryan in the mornings.
I think you should go for it! It sounds like a great opportunity. If you really hate it, can you stop? Good luck!

DH travels for business and it's really tough on me when he's away b/c taking care of DD by myself for a week w/o any break even at night is rough. Ellie's not old enough to miss him yet, but I know he misses her big time and he's certainly not as emotional as I think a Mom would be. But you have to do what you have to do. You'll work it out.

Re: Do any of you (or your DH's) travel for business?
This has always been a reality in my life. My husband has always traveled for business, sometimes internationally, lately only domestically. My honest opinion is this is easier when they are small. Although it will be hard on you, they have less of an idea about time in general. I have found that as my children have gotten older (now 4 and 9), it can really be rough as they really understand just how long he is gone for and what activities he is missing. Luckily, in the last year he has been traveling a little less, but commuting more (which in my opinion equally suc*s).
If you have an opportunity to further your career, have a supportive spouse and only one child, I say go for it. Hopefully, it will provide you more flexibility/options in the future. I promise you they will always know who mommy is.
