Do chia seeds stop hunger?
I sometimes add a tea spoon of chia seeds to smoothies and didn't notice that they keep me full longer or stop hunger before. Yesterday I noticed I have a bag of chia seeds that is expiring soon and wanted to use them before they expire. I soaked two table spoons in two glasses of water, drank one glass yesterday evening and wasn't hungry last night. Skipped dinner and before I went to bed drank the second glass of chia water. Didn't eat breakfast today as I woke up late and had lunch around two. I wasn't even that hungry when I had lunch. This never happens to me especially when I skip a meal. Has anyone noticed that chia seeds stop hunger?

Yes. They expand in your stomach making you feel full.

Try some chia pudding. It's delicious and filling and easy to make.
2 cups almond milk
1/3 cup chia seeds
1 tbsp vanilla extract
nutmeg to taste
2 tbsp honey
Yummmmmmm

when chia sits in a liquid for a while (at least a couple of hours) (for pudding, preferably over night), the coating on the seed absorbs a large amount of the liquid, making it gelatinous. this is why it will be very close to real pudding and also why chia seeds soaked in water are an egg substitute in vegan baking.

i love chia fresca.... it's chia water with lemon/lime juice and a little sweetener (usually agave).
chia is also wonderful for hydration.
the gelatinous coating (after soaking) releases the water into your system slowly... think of it as "time released" hydration.
i love chia fresca as a pre race hydration drink... or for longer runs.
as far as helping with hunger... yes. they are great for taking up volume in your stomach so you eat less. you can add them to almost anything.

Is the pudding like a tapioca from the seeds or is it a smoother consistency?

Do chia seeds stop hunger?
I use chia seeds in the NutriBullet sometimes and I do notice that I'm not hungry at all during the day - not sure if it's the chia seeds or the shake as a whole though.

I found them at Shop Rite in the baking aisle. They were by the specialty flours.
I haven't tried the pudding yet, but I've been adding them to my breakfast smoothies and I have noticed that I feel full longer.
