Do/did you plan to interview pediatricians before the baby was born?
DH picked a reputable pediatric practice and thinks we don't have to meet with them before the baby is born. He said we could meet them after the baby is born. I don't think I agree with him.

Re: Did you interview your pediatrician before the baby was born?
I extensively researched our pediatrician and I was pretty sure s would be perfect for us but we felt we needed to meet her and make sure our personalities meshed as well as our ideas.
I personally think its important to interview your pediatrician ahead of time. While they could be THE BEST pediatrician in the world, I also think its VERY important that your personalitiets match and you feel comfortable with their bedside manners and speaking with them!
I was so relieved after the interview. I was so excited that I we got along with our ped so well and I'm relieved and comfortabel that when comes I won't have any problems communicationg with her!

no research here. I'm taking my DC to the same practice that I went to as a child. It's the same practice that all of my cousins go to as well, so nope, no interviewing necessary. They go above and beyond for our family.

I would like to meet the doctors before choosing them. I need to get referrals from friends and hopefully OB.
Shirley area for me.

Re: Do/did you plan to interview pediatricians before the baby was born?
I got recommendations from friends and only ended up interviewing one practice, which I ended up really liking and going with.
I think this is the best way to go, but still recommend at least meeting with them briefly so there are no surprises down the road.
Every parent/couple is going to have different expectations of their provider so it's good to have your questions answered in advance.

Re: Do/did you plan to interview pediatricians before the baby was born?
I got a recommendation from my OB/GYN and then asked around and heard nothing but great things about them, so I went with them without even meeting them. They were also the practice that came to see DD when she was first born in the hospital. My feeling was worse comes to worse, if I really didn't like them after the first visit I could always pick another.

I'm going to go check out only the choices I've narrowed down through other recommendations.

Planned it...never did it and when they asked who her ped was I gave his name and met him the next day! Couldn't have made a better choice if I researched the bejeezus out of it

Re: Do/did you plan to interview pediatricians before the baby was born?
My OB/GYN recommended the practice. I spoke with the receptionist who answered a bunch of my questions about the practice. She also sent me an information packet. I had an appointment to meet with one of the doctors, but I was put on bedrest and had to cancel. So far, I've been very happy with the practice.

We did and I'm glad I met him before DS was born. He was also the first one we met- liked him, the practice, the location and went with it.
He came recommended from a friend.

I actually went with a recommendation I found here on LIF...my OBGYN raved about him when I mentioned his name, and DH and I went to meet him in person a few weeks ago (we liked him too!).

I pretty much know who it's going to be, but I'd still like to go and meet them just to make sure I like the practice.
