Do I need an original copy of my marriage cert for a passport?
Do I need to get a copy with the raised seal on it or will they accept a photocopy of my original?

You need an official copy of your marriage license for a name change on your passport.
It has to have the raised seal on it.
I was afraid to send in my original license, so I went to town hall and got a certified copy (with the raised seal).
When I got my new passport, they returned my license and my old passport.

I just sent in our passport applications a couple of weeks ago and my old passport had my maiden name on it...
So I had to send a copy of our marriage certificate with a raised seal... We were a little wary of sending our original for sentimental reasons, we also went to town hall where we got it ( Town of Hempstead) and I got a copy. it took 5 minutes and it cost $10...
We sent this copy along with my old passport and application...
