Do I need to speak to someone...meaning professional?
I am a reg poster on the other boards but am using a different sn now because of privacy...
I think its time i finally asked someone for the truth..
My grandfather passed away, 6 years ago. Yes, six. He was only 60 years old, however cancer over took him. He raised me and at times I consider him to be more of a father to me than my own who was never in the picture.
I was the sole care giver until the end.
I think about him...every day. I got married a year ago and was depressed on my own wedding day because i kept think about how he should be walking me down the aisle. We were renovating our house, and I am thinking about how he would have helped. What he would think etc...
Lately, my thought have been worsened trying to concieve. The fact that he will not beable to see my first child makes me so overwhelmed.
I dont know what it is however, I feel as though i can not let him go. My husband is exactly like him and at times, he acts like him and it makes me sour towards him.
I just, feel so overwhelmed lately. After six years shouldn't I be okay with this?

There's a big difference between being ok with losing someone and letting them go. You should never let your grandfather go! My grandpa passed away last year and I don't plan on ever letting him go. Kevin's mom has been gone for 6 years and he will never let her go. But you do have to be ok with things the way they are. You do have to accept death and continue to live your life. I, too, am saddened at the thought that my grandfather will never be able to hold my future child(ren). But I look forward to telling them stories about him and showing them pictures of him and keeping him alive in our hearts. I'm not sure if you need to see a therapist, but perhaps finding a bereavement support group would be beneficial. In times of need it's often helpful to find others who are in similar situations.
