Do I need to wear a long dress for a black tie wedding?
While I've been to plenty of evening weddings, I think this is one of the first that will say black tie on the invitation. Is it expected for women to wear long dresses? The wedding is in early July and I'll be 32 weeks pregnant. This will be my last baby so I'll only wear whatever dress I get once. I certainly have more reasonably priced options if I can get away with a cocktail dress, but I also don't want to look out of place if most women will wear a long dress.
Any advice on where to look? I prefer not spending more than $100 for something I'll barely wear. I've checked out Rent the Runway, Pink Blush and Asos. I prefer some of the cocktail dresses over the gowns. If you have any links or pictures of dresses that you think would work for a black tie wedding in July, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

I think you're fine with a cocktail dress. I'd say a fancier cocktail dress if you can, but at 32 weeks pregnant, you get a pass.

And while some people on here will disagree, I for one have never worn a long gown to a black tie wedding. One, I find Black Tie obnoxious and the couple of them I have been invited to I would say 98% of women were in cocktail dresses anyway. I know some people put Black Tie on invite to make sure people dress up, but this is NY, we all know how to dress for a wedding!

Thanks! I've seen some fitted ones with 3/4 lace sleeves. The place has to have A/C and the ceremony will be inside. Is lace appropriate for a summer wedding or do you think it will be too hot for lace even if we're mostly inside?

I think for MOST black tie weddings you'd be fine wearing a cocktail dress, but I went to one in NYC on a Saturday night where literally every woman was wearing floor length. I feel like in NYC I would do long length - but maybe cocktail length for other areas?
