Do I put my last job on my resume?????????
Ok, my last day at my painful job was Friday. I was only there for a little over a month. It was working for the President of three brands at a global cosmetics company that everyone knows....had I been there longer it would have looked amazing on my resume.
Do I put the job on my resume and explain to prospective employers that I left b/c of the commute and the fact that my boss was a demon? Do I blame the entire reason I left on the commute? Or, do I just not list the job at all and explain that I haven't worked since July because I have moved into a new house and wanted to get settled??
TIA for all your opinions!!

I would to. If they do a background check they'll see it anyway. Just say it was the commute like everyone else said. I put a job on my resume and I was only there for 4 months and HATED IT.

Definately. Your next job may do an extensive background check.

Use it, and site commute as reason for leaving. I've done it, I was called on it during an interview and the person hiring me agreed that my commute was insane at that job and I surprised I stayed at that job as long as I did. They thanked me for being honest. I told them I tried it for awhile, but it got to me.

If you were at the job for a month I WOULD NOT put it on there.
Regardless of the excuse-- it does not look good.
I would leave the job before it on and say you took time off to get settled into your house and then figure out where you wanted to focus your job search now that you live in NJ.

I agree. I was at a job for 3 months right after college and left it off my resume and it never came up.

I'd have to agree with this Alicia. This was well said!

I agree whole-heartedly. Blaiming it on the commute is not a "legitimate" excuse in their eyes, and they will probe into it more. Especially since you're travelling from NJ - it's still a 2 hour commute, that you were aware of before you accepted the offer.

I would absolutely not put it on there. Formally citing the commute could easily have a negative impact on the strength and interpretation of your resume.

Re: Do I put my last job on my resume?????????
ok...hmmm....i'm even more confused now.
if i don't put it on there and it comes up during a background check then I will just act like it wasn't a big deal and explain the commute...
Also..I am looking into temp work right now for many reasons (ttc, etc.).....so for temping it really shouldn't matter, right?

Just leave it off- and if it does come up-- say that you were only there a few weeks and the fit was not good, and in addition the commute was not working out for you-- so, it was insignificant which is why you did not put it on there.
It will most likely not come up.

I agree with this completed. Last year I was at a job for 3 months and left, I did not list it on my resume and no one has asked.

I agree, I was at a job for 4 months and didn't put it on. It's looks bad no matter what the reason was. If you really loved the job and everything was working out you would figure out how to make the commute better. If it wasn't worth the commute than questions are going to come up. Background check would not show this job.
