Do I really have to take my cartilage piercing out for retrieval?
I went in this AM for my pre-surgical instructions, and no body piercings are allowed (along with no nail polish -- damnit -- I just got a mani/pedi - GRRRRR). My regular ear lobe piercings, fine, no problem, I'll pop 'em out, but my cartilage piercing will require me to go to a tattoo/piercing shop today to remove it because it is a continuous loop that requires a special pair of pliers. Thoughts on this?

I have a rook piercing that I could not take out without going someplace to have it done. I've had more MRI's than I would like to count with it in, another surgical procedure as well and I left it in for 2 retrievals. I just told them that it doesn't come out. In fact I don't even think I said anything for the second one.

Called my IVF nurse before I went to get it taken out and she said she would check with the nurses that are in the room during the retrieval. If it was a problem, she was going to call me back. I haven't heard anything in 2 hours, so I'm leaving it in.

Can you put a bandaid or gauze over the hoop? I know people who have done that for piercings they didn't want to remove.

I never take my Monroe out and that has a bigger chance of being pulled out than some earrings, I have been told to take all piercings out but when you have the things for so long you just don't sweat it.
