Do I win the smallest baby contest?
So...Mollie had her one year appointment today at the ped. All in all...she is doing great.
She was 16lbs 11 oz and 28 inches long. I thought for sure she would reach over the 17lb mark...but nope, still a peanut. The doctor was not concerned...she said that she is growning on a curve, so as long as it is consistent, there is nothing to worry about.
We were told to switch her to milk. I have read all your stories about DC's not drinking milk out of a sippy, so I have been worried about this transition. I was also told she may refuse milk because it tastes different from formula (she was on soy formula).
For lunch...I gave her milk in a sippy and she drank it...didn't bat an eyelash...didn't look at me, like where's my bottle...nothing! Let's hope that continues!
She has to go back in 3 months

Re: Do I win the smallest baby contest?
Keep in mind that as a "peanut", she can't be forward facing in the car seat until 20lbs.
There's nothing wrong with being smaller than average. She'll probably turn out to be a great gymnast or ballerina (on her off days from being a world-class doctor or lawyer... )

Re: Do I win the smallest baby contest?
awwww...Mollie is so tiny!!!!
Kim, sounds like she's doing great! As long as she's on the same growth curve, she's fine! Tell her to enjoy it now because when seh gets older it won't be so easy to be small

I can't wait for Logan to meet Mollie.
Between my giant baby and your peanut we will have pictures!!
Our good friend's daughter is almost 1.5 years old and she's still 17 pounds and wasn't even a premie.

Re: Do I win the smallest baby contest?
I have a peanut too...at 12 months he was 18lbs 14 and now at 15 months he is 20lbs 2oz. Doctor has never expressed concern over his weight. He did say once that DS is a little on the skinny side but he said that's ok. Nothing to worry about.
The main thing is that they gain...

Re: Do I win the smallest baby contest?
She is so cute! I wish DD was a little smaller- she is 22 pds and over 30 inches! I know she is going to outgrown her very expensive car seat and I am going to be so mad that I didn't get the bigger one

Re: Do I win the smallest baby contest?
My twins were 28 inches and 17 lbs at a year...(and the appointment was more at like 13 months)...while they still are on the small side (they are 8 now) they are well within the normal size range. Most of their friends are about their size give or take an inch or two.

Re: Do I win the smallest baby contest?
Hailey is a peanut too, I think she was 18.5lbs at her 13 month visit. I thought she was going to have trouble switching to milk also being on soy formula but we did a gradual switch and she did great. I had trouble going from bf to formula so I was pleasantly surprised. Good luck!
