Do teachers and faculty find PTA PIA
Hi, Just curious. Do the majority of the teachers and faculty find the PTA and its parents a pain or do they find they are helpful and a necessity.

Just find them USELESS! I love when they send out notices with blatant spelling mistakes! So professional

I absolutely agree. I didn't even bother to join this year. They are a huge PITA!

Re: Do teachers and faculty find PTA PIA
I disagree. Our PTSA gives scholarships to the students - also as a club advisor ptsa will help out for events that we need etc. I think saying that the PTA is a PITA is really saying that you think parents who are supporting their students educations (which in my district doesn't happen much) is a waste of time!

Do you guys teach on LI or city. We have a strong PTA and was just curious. Who handles things like setting up for events, holding events for the kids and things like that. We just had a huge Halloween party. Do the teachers do it. What about yearbooks. Who runs that? (Elementary Level)

our PTA is great - they are very involved in our school, but not too much that they seem overbearing.

They are good. We get cookies at back to school night and a few nice breakfasts as signs of appreciation. The people are nice that are in it. They do a dinner auction that I usually try to go to each year to support them.

Thankfully, our PA (no T--only parents in the association) is wonderful. They work for the PA like it's a regular job. The mothers are so down to earth and have the philosophy that the PA is for ALL the children, not just theirs. I am extremely lucky.

Re: Do teachers and faculty find PTA PIA
we have a great PTA. they work really hard to plan different parties throughout the year ( halloween party, beach party, family game night, talent show, etc) these are held at night, and the kids bring their whole families and have a lot of fun. they also plan and work feild day in the spring. they arrange for most of the assemblies that come to the school, and have brought in some really good ones. they also rasied money to get air conditioners for all the classrooms, and have done some great projects for the outside of the school ( some light landscaping, redoing a courtyard area that we have). they also arrange a few things for teacher appreciaton week, too. i can't really complain about them at all.. i think its awesome to see parents actually care about whats going on at their kids school

Re: Do teachers and faculty find PTA PIA
Hmmm, half and half. I really like some of our PTA parents, they are helpful, but not overly involved. I feel that some of them think that if they are on the PTA that they and their kids are entitled or something.
