Do we check the carseat or carry it on? Can I get through security with a juice box?

We aren't planning on using it ON the flight. But we need it at our destination. What do you suggest to do? If I check it, does it count as regular baggage? (Each checked 'bag' costs $25, so didn't know if this counted toward a checked carseat.) Or do we just bring it to the gate? We aren't bringing a stroller, so not sure if that matters.

Also, can I get through security with a juice box? Have you brought ice through? Ever since DS saw the Umizoomi with pretzels and juice box on the airplane, he is determined that will be his snack on the plane. Do they sell them in airports? Do they serve them on flights? I don't want to disappoint him.

If you aren't using the carseat on the plane, you can check it. Most airlines will give you one or two "child safety items" - i.e. a stroller or car seat and will NOT count them as baggage incurring a cost...

Usually you can get juice boxes in the airport, but if you bring a small one, then you might get through security with it...just make sure it's sealed....when DD was smaller, I had formula and sippy cup of water and they never stopped me...

We checked ours at the gate.

I checked our carseat with luggage and did not have to pay for it.

As far as beverages and snacks - I put it in my carry on and explained it was for the baby. They let me through with everything. I had 2 bottles of poland spring water as well as various snacks, children's motrin, benadryl, and an epi pen.

I brought several juice boxes for DS and some snacks. We had no issues.

def gate- check it..less handling! they take it from you right at the gate and hand t to you as you walk off the plane! no charge and doesnt count as a checked bag (strollers are the same)

Check it. We put it in a laundry bag with our name written across it.

And I HAVE gotten through security with two sealed capri suns. They pulled them out (I actually forgot they were in my bag) and when they saw DS they let us through with them

I just flew with DS last week alone.

Our airline let us check in our car seat without penalizing our baggage allowance. I highly recommend checking it vs lugging it around the airport.

They are also very lax with fluids in a diaper bag. This is our second time flying and they didn't even look in our bags. We had bottled water in there. No questions asked. I'm sure juice boxes are fine.

are you renting a car? if so, just rent one with the car? it's about the same and a lot less hassle!!!
