Do you ALWAYS warm bottles? BFing moms

What if you are out and can't?

DS is 6 weeks.

Ok..so I will bring bottles of waater for when I use formula, but what do you BFing moms do with BM that was in your fridge stash? DO you just put it in the diaper bag or put it in a cooler? Then how do you warm it if you do?

Re: Do you ALWAYS warm bottles?

I serve room temp bottles when I used the powder. Now Im using RTF...so I warm it in water for a few seconds. She will take it cold too, right from the fridge...

Re: Do you ALWAYS warm bottles?

nope, room temperature.

I used powder especially on the go and would carry bottled water at room temperature. when it was time to eat, I'd prepare it and give it to the baby at room temp.

Re: Do you ALWAYS warm bottles?

DS likes it room temp so I bring bottle water with us and the powder

are you using RTF or powder? When we were using RTF we used those small bottles and brought them with us.

Re: Do you ALWAYS warm bottles?

We give room temp bottles. We've actually given 2 or 3 bottles out of the fridge too, but generally they are room temp.

ETA: If you need to warm up bottles I usually just ask for a cup of warm water and stick the bottle in it for a min or so to heat up.

I had to or my DD refused to take the bottle. I use to carry around a thermos with hot water so when I was out I could heat her bottle fast. I used the Drop Ins so they heated up quick in hot water. It was a pain but I had no choice.

Re: Do you ALWAYS warm bottles?

We FF and DD takes it room temp, so I just carry a bottle of water to mix with powder.

We do have a bottle warmer that plugs into our car. Maybe that would help?

Re: Do you ALWAYS warm bottles?

we never did. We always used room temperature water.

We use to have a case of poland spring bottles just in the closet at room temperature and just brought one of those with us when we were out.

Re: Do you ALWAYS warm bottles?

When I was BF I would pump before I left. BM can stay at room temp up to 4-6 hours. I also have a warmer for my car. It doesn't work great but it will take the chill out of the formula.

Frozen BM?

You can try to thaw it in a cup/bowl of warm water.

What kind of places are you thinking that you wouldn't be able to warm it?

I am thinking bc I am going away next week and if we are out at the beach and I was even thinking about the car ride..if I have to feed him.

Not frozen, fridge stash, I pump at night bc I give formula at night so I use that for the next day.

Oh okay!

Do you only pump at night? Because freshly expressed BM can be at room temp for 10 hours or in a cooler for 24 hours.

Milk in the fridge (fresh only) can be stored for 3-8 days...

Does that help at all?

Re: Do you ALWAYS warm bottles? BFing moms

For BM, when I'm out if it's not already room temp, I ask for a mug/pot of hot water and warm it for a few minutes, or I have one of those price lionheart on-the-go bottle warmers which is okay. I never really give her milk thats very warm - it's normally only lukewarm.

You can bring a thermos of hot water to water it in there for your ride. Or if you stop at a rest stop, just run it under hot water in a bathroom sink for a few minutes.

If we are going out I pump a fresh bottle and throw that in my diaper bag. DS gets that at room temp.
