Do you and your DH/SO agree on all decorating ideas?

Or do you do what you want and DH/SO goes along for the ride? I feel like when I tell my DH my decorating/rearranging/renovating plans, he poo-poos them all and then our apartment just stays the same. For example, painting what will be our nursery--he says it is fine the way it is and it is a waste to paint. Meanwhile the room is stem green-very pretty, but hard to coordinate with "baby" things. I also want to get rid of some of our old kitchen furniture that fit in our last place, but now looks awkward--he just shrugs it off. Would you just go ahead with decoration plans without the blessing of your partner?

dh is better at that stuff than I am.. I usually suggest something and then he usually suggests somethign else and then we pick from that.

lately we have been agreeing a lot more, I think because we are finally getting to know 'our style'

DH and I kind of agree on decorating. The only thing we differ on... he hates having things out. I like some nick nacks out.

As for doing things without him, never. We have to agree or we do nothing. I am DYING to gut the downstairs bathroom and redo it completely. DH keeps putting me off so I wait. I try not to overwhelm him with too much at once.

we both pretty much agree on how we decorate and what we put up!!
he usuallly has the attitude of whatever ... he is happy either way...lol

DH and I try to find the middle road on decorating we disagree on, but 90% of the time we're both on the same page with what we want.

My DH defers to me on pretty much everything....He thinks I'm better at it (and I am ) but if he has an idea, I'll take it into consideration. He's had a few good ones.

Usually if he needs convincing about something I envision, I just find some good pics on the internet to show him.

Sometimes, he seems like he doesnt care but that's because he just can't "see" it in his head. I need to actually show him some pictures.

If it wasn't a question of finances - I'd go ahead with my plans.

I throw things by him but do what I want anyway... unless it's something really kooky or different.

I tease DH all the time that he's the idea man, and I'm the execution woman ..........

He has all of these big plans .......but he never actually starts a project - So, I just take charge and start.

Like the bedroom, I finally made the call to just go and buy furniture and repaint the room and that's it - I'm doing it.

He'll help, but to get him moving is a PITA -

I have recently learned while furnishing our new house that we have a hard time agreeing on some things. It's exhausting. So far I have compromised on the kitchen table (I wanted pedestal; he wanted legs - we went with the legs) But I refused to compromise on our family room couch - we both liked the same style, but different colors. It took the salesperson, decorator at the store, & I 45 minutes to to convince him to go with my color. Then usually what happens is, once we get the furniture/whatever we were having a hard time agreeing on, he says that I was right all along and why does he question me?

I would say he pretty much leaves it up to me, but I always pass my ideas past him first before doing them. If I go out shopping for decor, I don't ask him first, I just buy it and show him when I get home. I've only brought one thing back so far, but I really didn't like it either after I got it home. Now to just get him to agree on painting our office furniture.

We go to battle on pretty much every decision and then come up with a compromise (or mostly, I win )

My DH is an interior designer but I also think I'm very good at decorating and am very stubborn so you can see where that gets us. He thinks I'm color blind and vice versa - I sure hope he isn't considering our livelihood depends on it!

Same here. My DH couldn't care less, lets me do whatever and is always happy with how it turns out

I do what I want- it's my thing

I enjoy it- I went to school for it

he asked for 1 thing- a sofa with the nail head trim

and it set the tone for our living room and dining room- so it was a good choice

We def disagree, and he ends up loving it in the end! He feels like whatever he says I don't like but, I really know what i'm doing

We don't always but i will defer to him.
I tell him he has a "queer eye".

"Hey Hon, bring your queer eyes over here and look at this."

He doesn't really like that much.

When we did our house over I picked all the colors ( I love colors and he wanted bone color to plain for me) however he picked out all the appliances, tiles and fixtures. He has an eye for that kind of stuff so together we do pretty well But we did just paint our living rm over (for the 3rd time in 4yrs ) and picked the colors this time or should I say he did a house like this (he's a contractor) and liked it so much he did ours like that so I guess the real credit would go to the other home owner
