Re: Do you believe I actually needed to give a fellow pregnant woman my seat

I went to Olive Garden and stood in the lobby area for a good 15-20 minutes and not ONE person offered their seat!! When a seat finally opened up, some young girl ran to it and I gave her a look. Only then did she offer the seat.

Aren't the MEN supposed to get up for women first of all and ESPECIALLY when they are preggo! What is wrong with you people! Chat Icon

Yes, back when men were men and women were women, that was the case, but now... who knows...

I can't even get upset that men rarely get up for pregnant women. It has been pounded into their brains for quite a few years now by women themselves that we are just as strong and capable as as they are, so why would they get up for us, in whatever condition... It does seem like the only right thing to do but...

We ARE all equal, after all...Chat Icon

This happened to me once too. The woman was obviously more preggo than I was and I gave her my seat and stood the whole 30 minute bus ride.

People are soooo rude!!

this is so true - I always laugh out loud when I get on the subway and all of a sudden everyone around me suddenly falls into a deep sleep!

People can be terrible, but I'll offer a good story. I was 7 months pregnant in the Atlanta airport and all the seats in the gate were taken. I just stood in the back and started reading a magazine (I truly didn't mind since I had just spent 2 hours sitting on a plane). A boy in his early 20's motioned over to me to take his seat. He later told me that his SIL was recently pregnant and he saw how difficult things had been for her and had become much more sensitive to the needs of pregnant women. I was shocked and pleased at how nice he was.

Re: Do you believe I actually needed to give a fellow pregnant woman my seat

To me, I don't care if you are male, female, yellow or green...if there is someone who NEEDS the seat more than you do, common courtesy says get off your lazy behind!
As a woman, if I were traveling and saw a man who needed the seat (either for a handicap or age), I would certainly get up for him.
It is not totally a male/female thing - it's just common respect between human beings. I think that's what is dead....

Sometimes I'm not sure if a woman is pregnant or not...I don't want to offend them if they are not. But I do my best to offer up my seat.

After what I've experienced recently nothing surprises me. I don't understand some people. I'm beginning to think this is the norm unfortunately.
