Do you borrow from the library?
Just curious...This topic came up at lunch the other day. I have to admit that as a germaphobe, I'm kind of skeeved out at the thought of borrowing books, especially after reading an article in the NY Times about the bedbug problems some libraries are having. I love buying books but it is getting expensive (even on a Kindle) and I have no room for them. Just curious to see what others do.

Do you borrow from the library?
I do. I have my moments with being grossed out. If I get a book that has food stains on it, for example, I won't take it out or I return it and look for another copy. As soon as I get home I wipe all of them down with a lysol wipe and that usually makes me feel better. Sometimes I get lucky and get brand new books. I don't do a lot of browsing in the library, I usually just go online to request and then pick them up. But I'd rather suck it up and read a ton of books then none or the few that I would buy.

Do you borrow from the library?
I love the library. Any library is my favorite place in the world, and I can spend hours at the library just browsing. If I didn't borrow books from the library, I would spend hundreds of dollars a month on books... I can't remember ever being particularly grossed out by any book I borrowed, but DH refers to library books as having "book cooties."

Re: Do you borrow from the library?
Love the library....we are there at least 2x's a week. I borrow for the kindle online and if it's not available online I borrow from the actual library. I read about 2 books a week so I would go broke if I did not.
I have never been grossed out, but I also know I am not that afraid of germs so that is why.
I like to read a bunch a books a week...fiction, non fiction, and all subjects...cookbooks, art, fitness, diet, gardening etc...so I am always test driving books I may want to buy from the library first.
The kids also get books there, 5-7 a week ( one a night to read at bedtime)

Same here. I started reading at age 3 and as a child I loved the library. Still one of my favorite places.

Re: Do you borrow from the library?
No, but I think it's going to be a New Years Resolution of mine. Especially kindle books as it seems pretty easy to borrow those. My Dd is 2, and we go to the library a lot by have yet to take out a book. My parents are book buying addicts and DD has a pretty extensive library in her room!! But I think in the new year we will start borrowing. I think it will be a good experience for her to go, pick out a book, read it at home, and then bring it back.

my kids love it. They help me search on the computer for books with things that interest them...one week we picked firefighters and got all of those..that type of thing.
They are allowed to get 2 dvd's, a music CD ( to listen in the car) and 5-7 books each for the week. I find it so much fun going with them.

Re: Do you borrow from the library?
I go through phases of using it, then I usually am late returning and stop for a bit. Mine closes for every random holiday which is annoying.
DC adored the summer reading club and sometimes we go to play with puzzles or the train table.
It really is a terrific money saver, but since I got my Kindle it's too easy to buy books

Re: Do you borrow from the library?
Almost always (unless my sister buys a book and then I borrow her copy) but I have actually only bought about 20 books in my life brand new and I am an avid reader.

Re: Do you borrow from the library?
I borrow books from the library all the time. Sometimes I borrow them on my kindle, sometimes I miss a "real" book so I get the hard copy.
I get a little skeeved but try not to think about it.

I borrow ebooks on my nook all the time. Lately, I have been borrowing some actual books. I hate buying books. I also use PaperBackSwap to get books.

Do you borrow from the library?
Almost exclusively. I don't have an e-reader. I have convinced myself that whatever books I take out have been sitting on the shelf so long that the germs have died lol I do get a little skeeved with the children's books though.

This exactly!
The only time I ever buy a book is if it's from one or two series that I already love and will just die if I have to wait weeks or months on the libraray list to get. I've only bought three books in the last 3 years.
