I plan on buying it because they are made specifically for the crib I am getting. I would be nervous that they wouldnt have them when I need them a few years down the road. I'll just store it in the garage or something!

We bought the toddle conversion. However we didn't purchase the rails for the full size conversion because we felt that we could always use a regular metal frame with the headboard and just not use the footboard. I get the feeling we won't convert it to a full size bed anyway because we plan on having another baby in the future.

What is it?
It is what you add to a crib to convert it into a bed. Our crib goes from a crib to a full sized bed.
We bought the conversion kit.

We bought it now along with all the other furniture. It was inexpensive and I didn't want to have to worry down the road that they might discontinue the set.

Re: Do you buy the conversion kit-- or wait to get it til you need it?
My sister did not buy it when she got her crib. Her daughter never ended up sleeping in the crib, so she ordered the conversion crib at about 18 months.
My niece is now 2.5 and the conversion kit isn't in yet, at least not that my sister knows of.
They called to say they had it in, she ordered from Behr's, it was paid for in full.....
She asked if she could wait a few weeks to PU since she lives in Rocky Point......and when she finally went there they realized that it had gotten damaged in the warehouse, and needed to be reordered.
That was in April and they haven't called her back yet to say that it was in....she was just saying yesterday that she needs to call them....
I'd just order it now. This way it comesi n when everything else does. Especially if you have the space to store it.

ours came with our crib.... it wasn't seperate....
but if it were, I'd get it now if you intend to use it in the future, just so you get it before the model is discontinued.....

A friend of mine waited and it was no longer available when she was ready for it- we don't have a convertible, but if I did, I would order it in advance

We should have. Our company went out of business. Supposedly we can get another one that will fit our crib though.

Re: Do you buy the conversion kit-- or wait to get it til you need it?
Do it all at once and get it done with.
We ordered DD's furniture last September. Got the furniture and the full-size conversion kit by December. DD is now 6 months old and we got the toddler bed conversion kit THIS PAST SUNDAY. 10 months after we ordered!
It's worth it to buy it now and store it. Too many things can happen in 2 years time.
