Do you ever feel like you are more "informed" than your Dr's are?
I got my first beta results back from Friday.
14dpo - 272
The nurse on the phone said it is "low" but then again I am only 4 weeks. They have to call me back...she needed to check to see if I will need another blood test performed.
Isn't it the point of Beta results to COMPARE two or more tests to make sure the numbers are doubling? Of course I need another appt....
Then I looked up my 272 "low" number and it is completely within the normal range for 4 weeks.
Why are these azzholes putting a negative spin on everything? I don't know...maybe I'm just nuts, but I feel like sometimes I know more than they do since I have done so much reading and research. (I know I really don't know more than they do, but do you know what I am saying??)
I am seriously considering changing Dr's. I have to wait on the phone for 25 min every time I call and when I finally do talk to someone it's just blah, negative, nothing...not even a "congrats you are pregnant" (it was my first blood test)....she just went right into how low my levels are.
Thanks for letting me vent

Oh I often feel like that. I'll research a funny feeling I'm having and then ask the Dr. about it and all she'll say is "it's normal" with no explanation.

OK change Drs for sure. You are so unhappy they will only make the coming months more stressful for you.
They do a second test if the numbers are low, however some do a second just to make sure they are doubling the way they should. If you want a second test ask for a prescription to a lab and get it done out of that office. The second test is only one vial of blood, so it is not so bad!
That is not a comforting feeling in the beginning to feel like you are more on the ball than your Drs office. Sorry you have to deal with it

You need to change right away. That is totally normal for 4weeks.

I just want to play the devils advocate here...
How would you feel if you had a customer facing job and people were constantly looking up things about what you do on the internet and coming into your office telling you how you should do your job...
I appreciate that doctors and everyone who work in their offices should be doing everything they can to make you feel comfortable, but I can just imagine how frustrating it is when people come in and tell you what you should and shouldn't be doing!
Where I live I get one doctor and if I want another one...tough t*itty. I would have to go private and pay for the whole treatment out of my own pocket. But on the upside, I don't have to pay for anything at all...its all free (I pay something like 9% of my salary to the NHS) But the service we get can be excellent...
Anyway, just my two pence!

i agree. i am not PG. but i think the internet leads us to believe we know more about everything, not just being pg. sites like webmd and ask.com make people nuts when it comes to diagnosing themselves.
if you are not comfortable with your dr., find a new one.
