I just got a pair of pants which I didn't realize are dry clean only. Can I just wash them in the sink?

I have washed wool sweaters at home, but not other wool clothing. I have washed some other things, but never put any of it in the dryer if I do decide to wash them.
I also wouldn't wash silk and definitely not rayon. I have ruined a couple of rayon shirts just from washing them once.

Yeah, I use that special detergent in my kitchen sink to wash them. I think it's called Woolite.
