Do you feel guilty when you stop potty prizes?
Ryan's last potty prize was a couple of weeks ago - this guitar he really wanted, and had to earn 10 stars for. He did it and loves his guitar.
And he is successfully potty trained - pee and poop but i still put him in the pull up for bedtime.
About every other time he poops on the potty he asks for his prize. I keep saying he is big boy now and we don't need prizes, but I feel like I created a monster. He gets over it fairly quickly - no tantrum or anything, but I feel bad telling him no when he seems to believe he earned it.
Over the weekend he pooped and I heard him counting the poop to DH. He initially said 3 "nuggets" which was accurate and then counted to 10. When DH said, "no, there are 3 poops in the toilet" Ryan said, "but I get 10 stars for a potty prize"
I feel mean now.

My DS doesn't forget ANYTHING, but he moved on pretty quickly from the prize thing (maybe a week or 2) . You're not mean!

Elizabeth has been potty trained since Memorial Day... poop followed within a month. She'll STILL ask for candy when she goes.
I don't feel bad about it though because all I can think is that she's going to rot her teeth or have a sugar addiction or something terrible if I keep giving her candy. Yes, I have candy issues!

Jack still gets Skittles every time he pees. It's getting old IMO and I can't wait to stop.
Now, I would give him the shirt off my back if he pooped on the toilet so I know I'm going to be in trouble with that one.

I could handle a small edible treat but these are $20-$30 prizes. I'd rather spend the $$ on diapers LOL

Re: Do you feel guilty when you stop potty prizes?
We did a potty chart for pee and he got a big prize for figuring out pee. We no longer do prizes for pee. We still do poop prizes. We got small prizes and stickers. We are now trying to move to multiple poops for one prize and eventually will move away from them. Today was the first time DS told me he needed to poop. Every other time it has been me asking DS to try and watching him for signs he needs to go. I want to get him to the point where he can do everything himself. We are not there yet but I hope to be soon.
ETS: We have only been at this for one month.
